I've got a Mossberg 500 with a bead front sight. The receiver is tapped and drilled from the factory. I'd like to install some ghost ring sights. Can anyone recommend a set? How difficult is it to remove the front bead?

This is what you need:

Mossberg GRS Kit #95300. You can it just about anywhere:

Notice that they say gunsmithing required. The rear sight goes into the receiver, which, as you noted, is already drilled and tapped. The front sight would be best if you silver soldered it on (usually a gunsmith) or you could mount it with a heat/cold resistant adhesive - I've heard of guys using JB Weld. The thing you would have to be careful of is getting it centered correctly during the initial install and curing process.

The front bead on your 500 [I]should[I] be a screw in, probably also has some loctite or similar locker to keep it from backing out.

Myself, I'd go the adhesive route, if that doesn't work you could then take it to a gunsmith.

Good luck.
