Hi,

Does anyone know where I might find a Colt CAR Fiberlite stock in good condition? For months, I've checked on ARF regularly, in addition to Fidelis and GB, but no luck so far.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I got mine (used one) from Dennis Todd at a Chantilly VA Gunshow. DToddMG@aol.com

Thanks, Rob. I have an email out to Dennis.

The meantime, I'd appreciate any leads.

Never heard back from Dennis, so if anyone has any other leads, I'd greatly appreciate it.

There was a NEW stock kit listed on the EE recently. Check there?

It sold. Sorry.

I have more—new in wrap—but can't bring myself to sell them right now. I got the kits from Hoplite in the late-90s.

Rod Maurer (Fidelis) and Dennis Todd are your two best bets. Be persistent.

Got a very nice one from Dennis a few months ago......

Rod and Dennis are both fairly unresponsive. I emailed Rod months ago, and it took him over a month to respond. Even if he got one in stock, it would probably be sold long before I had the opportunity to purchase it.

Still looking for leads.

I bought one from Dennis a year ago and he was out of new ones. Mine was pretty beat up but I'm still happy with it. It cleaned up nice with a bit of armor all and water. You might want to look at Specialized Armament (http://www.specializedarmament.com/products/Buttstock_Assembly_Carbine_M4_Type_I-1075-0.html) I think they have brand new ones but they are pricey.

If you are stuck on the Colt fiberlite stock, Model 1 Sales has CAR fiberlite stocks and they do fit on the mil-spec 2-position tubes.

Thanks for the lead- are they any good? Model 1 Sales generally makes my dick soft so I'm worried that they could even screw something up as simple as a plastic stock...

I would stay away.

There's something wrong with the lock pin assembly in their photo:

Be patient and keep your eyes peeled. I waited a long time to find a like new, take-off N-stock. It was worth it.

There is nothing wrong with these stocks. I have three of them that are used with the NDS 2-position buffer tubes and they function 100%. They are a great inexpensive alternative to the Colt N4 CAR Fiberlite stock.

This comes from first hand experience with the product, not from some off-the-wall assumption.

M&A Parts seems to sell a good copy... here's a review I found on a gunblog

They come up fairly often on ar15.com's EE but get snapped up quick.

I've been meaning to respond with an update- I bought one of M&A's stock and they're legit. It looks identical to a Colt and works great, and I sold the buffertube / buffer / extras for $40 as I didn't need them. Definately recommended.

Yeah I have to second the M&A stock. It's a solid stock that is probably the second best option after the Colt. I run these stocks on two carbines and while the rifles aren't my most used ones, the stocks seem to work for normal average use.

Like I have said before, the Model 1 Sales CAR stocks work and look great too. I used these on my 723s and 727 builds. They each are used with a Nodak Spud 2-pos. mil-spec receiver extension.
