I've been wondering for a while what technological advances are behind the newer high-magnification range scopes, like the 1-8x and 3.5-25x Leupold Mark 8s? My best guess is that it has to do with some recent development in the chemistry of lens materials, but I haven't found any definitive answer on the web. Do we have any optical engineers or other knowledgeable folks who can explain it? Thanks!
