View Full Version : Sterile Glock 19 slide, anyone ever seen one before?

My buddy decides to buy a Glock 19 Gen 4 for his grandfather, and gets a screaming deal on a Blue Label at the LGS. They have 2, with consecutive serial numbers- he decides on the earlier one... bit notices while she's processing the paperwork that the slide is sterile other than the serial number- there are ZERO markings on the left side. No "Glock", no "19 Gen4", no "Austria", no "9x19". Zip. The right side has the serial number. So he checks out the other one, one serial number away... and it has all the usual markings.

Has anyone see one before?

My first thought would be that the slide missed the machine that does the left-side roll mark. But those are probably as rare - or more so - than newly minted two-headed coins.

Glock's QC has gone to crap.

Calm down. I have gotten DPMS AR-10s with the entire batch with rails out of spec. Remington shotguns with almost oval barrels that wouldn't take chokes. CZ pistols without sights, Rusted Kimbers, M&Ps that wouldn't activate the striker, Colts with half the Pony missing, and you get the point, by the way, I bet the thing still runs just fine.

That's going to be worth some serious coin to a collector.

There go his plans to custom finish it.....

LOL. Look at the manufacturers you listed. Are you surprised?

I would buy it.

That's pretty cool. I'd leave it in the safe as I think someone out there would pay a good amount for it...

I am not suprised. DPMS is shit, I once got an entire batch with rails ot of spec. :p

Glock's QC has gone to crap.

Yep, Glocks won't run unless they have their markings colored in right?

Red will make it shoot faster. MOAR DAKKA!

MountainRaven

I'm sure you could convince someone that it was made for some high speed, low drag SFOD-DEVGRU mofos for ops that are blacker than black. Possibly make even more off of some gullible mall ninja than off a collector.

Try gunbroker

Yep.. Gunbroker.. If you want to sell.. Personally I'd carry/shoot it..

That looks really cool. I'd call glock and ask them if this has ever happened before or if it was intentional. Or better yet email so as to have documentation. I'd still keep it and shoot it though.

There is at least one gunsmith making a custom 1911 with a blank slide and I think it looks amazing.

I may ride a little fast and someday it may catch up and bite me in the ass but maybe not if I give it just a little more gas.

What the hell are you talking about? Do you just regurgitate everything you read online or have you professionally tested large enough quantities from each of those manufacturers. Stupidity like this is what ruins this website

I would go back and get the other serial number also. Would be cool to have back-to-back serial numbers with one slide marked and one unmarked.

I'd put it up on Gunbroker and really play up the "unique" and "one of a kind" in the title, subtitle and description of the item, with lots of photos, etc.

You may be surprised at how much some dumbo is willing to pay for it there.

This thread is about a G19 and helping out the OP. Adjust fire and continue.

Personally I'd keep it just because it's unique and kinda cool because of it's uniqueness and get the other one for grandpa.

That's cool! I would contact Glock and ask them about it. Being a Blue Label, the slide may have been replaced

RMiller
06-15-14, 14:09
I would like to know what Glock had to say about it.

Either way it's neat. I like it.

TacticalMark
06-15-14, 14:17
I would ask Glock about it as well. What LGS? It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's just another G19 to me that looks unique.

Nothing special about a blue label except the case has a blue sticker on it and is a lower price.

I've seen a few photos of slides that look like that but I'm somewhat confident they were a Photoshop endeavor:

My bad. I thought they were factory re-furbished guns like the Sig "Red Box" CPO guns

A buddy had purchased a new in box Kimber 1911 w/zero roll or slide markings. Some guy offered him twice what he paid for it about a year later at our range. I had picked up a 92F that was marked 92/96, still have but have been offered stupid money for it by collectors.

It's a pre-release of the new Glock Gen5.

What, like it's the Glock equivalent of those unmarked test cars they drive around Colorado? :sarcastic:

I'd personally keep it just for the neat factor. But if you were to post pics on the Glock forums and someone offered you some ridiculous coin, well, its an option.

IMO it looks better with the blank slide

kaltesherz
06-15-14, 23:42
A) It's not mine, it's a friends- I guess my first post wasn't clear.

B) Seems like it just missed the engraving station and made it past QC- not a big deal because it doesn't effect function and as others have said just makes it pretty unique.

I have no idea what that fotoforensics link is supposed to mean, unless you're trying to prove it's not photoshop- trust me, it's not. He said he'd post something over on GlockTalk about it so maybe someone of there might have seen one before or at the least point him to the right collector...

kaltesherz

While I totally agree that it's cool and shootable, it would seem to be a waste as his grandfather isn't going to care that it's unique- he just wants a good shooter.

If he can find a collector that really does appreciate it's rarity and will pay him a bit for it, he can get him another Glock 19, a bunch of ammo and mags and maybe a bit extra to spare.

+1000 on this. A consecutive brace of Glocks that are not really twins (One missing the left-side rollmark) would add $$$, IMHO.
In fact, "normal, true twins", consecutively numbered pistols usually bring higher prices as it is.

I heard Glock does this on purpose....that is to purposely slip in an occasional, anomalous Glock during manufacturing for future collectior reasons. Sorta like getting "The Winning Ticket" hidden in a Willy Wonka chocolate bar.
