I have to admit that since joining this board I have been a total leach. I take and take all the collective knowledge offered while offering almost nothing useful in return. I am hoping that with this small review I can maybe give something back to the community that has given me so much.

I apologize in advance for the crappy pictures. I am not a very good photographer…

This review is for the ZeroBravo KeyMod handstop. This is their website: http://zerobravo.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=1&idcategory=2

And the specs from their site:
Height: 1.075 in (2.73 cm)
Width: 0.7 in (1.78 cm)
Length: 0.85 in (2.16 cm)
Weight: 0.7 oz (19.8 g)

I forgot to take a picture of the packaging. It’s just a simple blister pack with the mounting instructions on the back. Basically loosen, mount and tighten.

I bought this particular one here: http://hamlundtactical.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=38d567c98112d0fae49d992333e2dabb&keyword=zerobravo&x=0&y=0

I paid for it myself. I have no affiliation with either the manufacturer or the vendor I bought it from.

The backstory is that I have pretty much always used a handstop on my AR’s. It’s just what I’m used to. My latest handstop was the KAC handstop/QG sling attachment combo. However, they only make it in picatinny and I have no idea if they will ever make a KeyMod version.

I tried this IWC Mount-N-Slot: http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/weapon-control-mount-n-slot-keymod-hand-stop/ but was not happy with the “step” before the handstop. I prefer feeling the rail directly above my index finger.

So on to the review!

It’s a very well made piece of kit. It’s made of 6061 aluminum with very fine machining and no sharp points. It has a beefy indexing tab machined into the top.

Simply put, when you mount this thing there is absolutely no wiggling. It’s solid! I have it mounted on a 10” BCM KeyMod rail on the second slot from the muzzle. This is just the comfort zone for me.

ZeroBravo’s claim to fame is the ability to mount it anywhere on the rail and position it with the curve towards the receiver or towards the muzzle and this feature works very well. You have the choice of having the finger groove towards the receiver or muzzle, giving you lots of flexibility.

I tested out the reverse mounting feature on BMC as well as a PWS KeyMod rails and it worked just as described.

Also (this is nothing more than an annoyance), it uses a 3/32” hex key, not the standard (?) 5/64” I’ve seen on pretty much every other KeyMod accessory. Not terrible, but it’s just one more thing you need to throw (and then find) in the range bag. Additionally, they do not ship this with a hex key. Again, not a huge deal, but on a $40 piece of hardware it would have been nice.

All in all, it’s a nice handstop and I am pretty pleased with it. It’s nice for those looking for a simple, minimal handstop with a decent surface area. I feel that it's probably the best option currently available. I will continue using it until I lose it or find something better.

Thank you for reading through all this! I hope it’s useful!

Did you reverse the key-mod nut before reversing the stop?

This. If you don't reverse the nut so it's oriented properly, your reversed keymod item will not seat properly.

Seriously? A KAC produced keymod handstop, like this one (http://www.knightarmco.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=167)? Yeah, it's plastic, but it is most definitely a Knight's keymod handstop.

I have nothing against polymer and in fact my last handstop was a Knights. I honestly have not seen this up close yet. From the pictures I have found online this looks more like a very short barrier stop. I am curious how much frontal space this has... Now I may order one and do a comparison!

You are correct! I was in a rush and neglected to perform this crucial step. I updated my review with a correction.

I'd delete the erroneous information altogether, but keep your ETA paragraph at the end. If your post ends up as a result of a Google listing, it will only include a few sentences. Many times, people will just read "when mounted reverse it does not lay flat" in the preview text and don't bother clicking through to get the whole story.

I run the KAC. It is 1" tall. It serves my purpose... Consistent hand placement to switch the WML with my thumb. It doesn't bother me that it is plastic but I would rather it be aluminum.

I was with a friend today that is highly regarded in the industry and he had gotten his hands on one of these. My impressions of it were positive, it is low profile and overall a solid piece of equip. I am a minimalist when it comes to VFGs and this one serves it's purpose. The fact that it is Keymod makes it a no brainer for me, I know it is basically the KAC but without having to place layer on layer for the time being until a actual key mod version is released I think that most will be more then happy with this one. I was surprised that I actually liked it but now that I am home from the range I found myself shopping for one.

I am def not affiliated with the company in all disclosure

What are you talking about??

HAHA.. I just spit Golden Monkey all over my computer laughing. If you were talking about me, before I edited the post I had asked where I can buy one as the link I was trying did not work, but after reading further into the thread I found the answer, a link to a website to buy the VFG , hence why I had written "actually read the thread and answered my question"

As far as what I meant in the body of my thread, Keymod was made to solve a problem it was made to lessen the amount of mounting hardware needed across platforms and across weaponry, I am sure I do not need to explain it further, most of you have a better idea of "why keymod"than I do. But most companies have not made the full transition to keymod, even less prob now with M-lok, so all I was attempting to say was the ZeroBravo is a nice addition to the market until more options exist. I only ran one the Zerobravo for a short time today but after further testing when I get mine maybe it will stay on my current build. I do not like big bulky VFG personally if I am even running one at all and the 0-Bravo is minimal. The contrast to KAC's keymod was that some are not very keen on the material, in the meantime I was saying that the 0-Bravo will do.

Sorry for the confusion, I am not doing very well conveying my thoughts today.

I wrote that I am not affiliated with them because I do not want you gents to think I am pushing their product, just saying the time I spent with the product was positive.
