I'm looking to have my fixed front sight base removed on my Bushy A3, and have a low profile gas block installed. I'm hesitant to do it myself (maybe there's an easy tutorial I missed? Plus I don't have the tools ). Where might I be able to send my upper to get this stuff done? Does anyone do these "mods"?

If you don't want to do it yourself, your local gunsmith should be able to do a competent job. You don't even have to waste time sending it out.

There are online tutorials all over the place. Brownells I think has one for this.

My only local gunsmith won't touch assault rifles. My dealer will do most things, but he said he "doesn't touch the gas tube", as in won't do anything related to that.

Not the same guy, HES. Thanks for trying to help, though.
I was talking to Grant, but he's an awfully busy guy.

I brought it in to his shop, and that's what he told me. He just doesn't want them in his place. Paranoid little man, I suppose.

Ron, where are you located?

Anyway, here is a tutorial on how to install a Larue FF Handguard, but it shows how to take the FSB off: http://216.23.214.70/pics/handguard_video_0001.wmv

I would recommend against a gas block with set screws. Use taper pins, or get the gas block pinned and welded by someone competent. ARbarrels.com or NFAinvestments are both good.

I'm in Waverly, NY, on the NY/PA border.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I'm gonna keep trying to get ahold of Grant, and if that doesn't pan out, I'll try your suggestions.

Thanks again, and keep the ideas coming if you have more!
