View Full Version : MOE Rifle Stock vs A2
Time for a new AR and I've decided on trying a fixed stock. Anyone with experience with both prefer one over the other? A2 looks better. From what I gather the MOE has better storage(usefulness in question), a little shorter but can easily be a little longer with butt pad(I'm 6'9, and always felt a little cramped with the CAR stock). Price is similar.

There are only a few differences between A2 and MOE...the MOE is less weight, has QD sockets, has bigger better storage, and comes in a variety of pretty colors.

Looks are subjective, but from a shooting perspective, the cheek-weld on Magpul fixed rifle stock is far superior to the A2.
Another option to consider is the EFX-A1 fixed stock, if you don't care for storage (but still want a QD sling mount).

The MOE rifle is pretty good for what it is. Not too expensive, big storage (probably its best feature), decent cheekweld, it can take QD sockets if you buy them, and it is pretty well built (the rear door is impressively sturdy).
Cheekweld could be better and a pair of vertical sling loops around the mid-top rear of the stock sides would be nice.
Thanks for some input. Looks like the MOE is probably a little better choice than the A2.

The A2 definitely looks smoother. That MOE rifle is one ugly mug.

I actually like the MOE better. Just got done last night assembling a 20" rifle with MOE stock ,and handguard , at to me it looks pretty good.
If I remember right I think the MOE is shorter then a A2 but longer then a A1
Using the MOE on my WOA 20" build and it's awesome, and far superior to the A2. I like the fact that it is a little shorter, and with the added pad, is really stable and comfortable.
Check out the Vltor rifle stock. Doesn't have the classic A2 look, but the cheekweld might be better than the Magpul.
I don't know if I could get use to the looks of the Vltor. MOE will probably be fine. After looking around for a little bit I don't know what I'm going to put together. I haven't looked at new AR gear in years, it's a whole new world out there. I may have to go a little different route than what I've been thinking about for several years.

im 6'7" 210lbs... I have gorilla length arms, and I LOVE my A2 stock. it fits a lot more comfortable to me than anything else I
have tried.
Are you going to be building a 20" rifle, or carbine?
the moe a2 stock is hideous. Rather have the original A2 or Magpul PRS
It all depends upon what turns you on. I like the classic AR look.
Going to be 18 or 20 inch rifle gas stainless barrel. Looking at those low cost ALG rails. I think either stock will look in place. The PRS seems a little much for what I'm going for, which is more minimal but modern, and configurable down the road.
I believe the MOE will accept the Magpul extended buttpad which would be a plus for me.
Anyone have any idea of the top of their head what the difference in length is between the A1 and A2?
Doesn't seem like it'd be noticeable at a glance, but I guess shouldering would make all the difference.
I like my MOE, it's on a 20". The butt angle feels different to me and it's much more comfortable than an A2.
