Hello all, I'm trying to finish up my carbine with a good white light, the only problem is I'm pretty particular as to how low pro said light and mount is, I'm really interested in the scout series paired with a haley mount. Ive tried 12 o'clock with the x300 and didn't seem to like how it panned out any suggestions would be appreciated.

What about the x300 at 12 o'clock didn't you like?

Do you have a fixed FSB to work around?

I have RMA Scout in a Haley mount at 11 or so (between top and left side rail). I like it. Light isn't in the way. Don't notice any barrel shadowing. I use the tale switch at 12 o'clock for ambi use of the light.

I've become a big fan of the momentary only version of the Inforce WML. It's lightweight, easy to use, has no cables and has been very reliable on my primary rifle. Now that Haley Strategic offers a 200 lumen version I'll be picking up one of those.

It rides at 12 o'clock and is not noticeable looking through my optics.

I am trying to decide on one of these light and front sight combos for my AR. If you carbine has a 13" rail or longer, one of the below options may work for you

http://haleystrategic.com/wml (would the 200 lumens be enough outdoors for you? )
http://inforce-mil.com/wmlx.php (would the 500 lumens be to much indoors for you? )
http://roschworks.com/SL1.php (would the 250 lumens be enough outdoors for you? )

You could use one of these with the 200 lumen Inforce light. http://tangodown.com/shop/tangodown-front-sight-flashlight-adapter/
or you could use run a Daniel Defense fixed front sight or a low profile folding front sight on your rail behind the inforce lights, at the location of your choice.

I am diggin the Inforce WML with Haley mount. I have a Scout with IWC Mount on my other Rifle but I'm leaning towards the Inforce setup as my goto

Would using the HSP Dropwing light mount be close enough to the handguard for you??

Sorry for the vagueness in the OP, I'm running a 13 inch KMR so no front sight post, i didn't like the switching system on the x300 but with all the suggestions for the wml i may explore that possibility

I will probably be going with one of these two lights. Check out the vids.

yeah, I'm thinking a WML on a Haley offset mount will be the winner for me

To me, "minimalist" translates to a small/light, single-cell, single-mode set-up without any wires or tape switches hanging off of it. So, I would recommend either the Surefire M300B or the single-mode HSP WML (both 200 lumens). I have both, and they each have their strengths & weaknesses.

The primary issue I have with the single-mode WML is the momentary only switch. Not a huge deal, and I understand the concepts of light-discipline and the benefit of a momentary-only switch. However, there are instances/scenarios where a constant-on switch would be useful (if not downright necessary). If the WML had a dual mode switch (like the Surefire clicky tail cap), where you could press lightly for momentary, then full press/click for constant, it would be the perfect weapon light IMO. I know they make a model with a constant-on switch, but I personally am not a fan of multi-mode lights. The actual switch orientation/angle/design of the WML is great though.

The M300B is a great light as well, and is built like a tank. As mentioned, I prefer it's clicky tail cap, and you do at least have the option to run a pressure switch if you prefer (it comes with an additional tail-cap and momentary-only pressure switch, but you can buy the SR version which snaps on the rail and has both momentary "pad" and constant click switch). Also, I prefer the beam on the M300. It has a better combo of spot/flood IMO, whereas the WML is almost too "floody". The only downsides are that it is a bit heavier, and is quite a bit more expensive than the WML.

Also, before buying an offset mount, see if just an added rail section on the KMR (mounted at the 45) would do the trick. For reference, I have a Samson Evolution (modular) rail on one of my rifles, and found that mounting the included rail section at 45 degrees was a perfect fit for the WML.

You couldn't get it closer to the rail with any other mount/option if you tried:

I have always been a diehard surefire guy but I have the 200 lumen inforce WML on the haley strategic mount and I highly recommend it. It has replaced my Surefire mini scout.

the rail sections can't be used at 10:30 or 1:30 - no clearance for a rail clamp.
