View Full Version : Looking for a hard case for my AR...

I have a drag bag for it, but sometimes I like to have it in a hard case; especially if I'll be bumping it around a lot or traveling.

Now...the thing is, I've got a Surefire Millenium that significantly increases the width of the weapon (almost twice the original). I don't want to have to unmount the light and other accessories to put it away, either. I'll also have an EOTech 516/ 3x FTS combo on top, so it has to accomodate the height, too.

It doesn't particularly have to lock, but that wouldn't hurt. As long as it latches.

Any options or opinions? Will I most likely be forced into a Storm case or the like? I don't want something that's HUGE, but I want it big enough. Oh...and my AR is a 16" with a shorty stock. (weird, I know...heh)

Thanks guys. :)

My Pelican, cut out so I can put either gun in it.

I'm leaning towards something like this though, and making a provision to lock it down in the cargo area of the SUV.

I see the rifles, optics, and all that fit very well, but as I mentioned, could I leave the Surefire mounted and still have it fit?

How did you cut the foam out rob?

from being a pro photog and owning storm and pelican, I can say that I usually used a razor or exacto knife.

this i think is important. dosent matter if you had a sticker on it that said i keep my dog's poop in here, your car will get broken into.

I think so.

I actually think that cutting out all the foam like that is a bit cheesy. I just had the case sitting around and some free time so I hacked away at it with an electric carving knife. You could just remove the center layer of foam, the one I cut, and I bet it would fit even with the light. You might have to make a small cut into the top or bottom layers of foam but that would be it.
