Colt LE6951 and Loose MOE Handguards

Hello all,

I have a Colt LE6951 9mm AR, and I have the Magpul MOE carbine length handguards installed. However, the other day I noticed they are very loose. They rotate about a half an inch by barely putting any pressure on them, and the delta ring moves too. Can anyone advise how to fix this? Is this because there is no gas tube in a 9mm? I would appreciate any advice.

Is the front sight drilled for a gas tube? Some Colt 9mm barrels have a front sight that can accept a gas tube.

A common and easy fix for this is to take an old gas tube and cut it back so it goes through the front handguard cap, barrel nut, and delta ring. Leave it short enough so it stops just before the upper receiver.

I never thought of that, yeah the front site post is drilled for a gas tube. Thanks for the suggestion.

That works.. mine started to loosen up after several thousand rounds..
