Too bad they replace them with MORE R51 pistols.

That's a pretty major fail, but it's good that they are actually owning it. Most gun companies wouldn't be so straight forward and willing to make things right. +1 for Remington customer service.

I agree. Nice to see a company addressing the problem straight on rather than doing endless "non recall recalls" and telling people they aren't holding their guns right.

Like how straight forward they were with the trigger on the 700 line?

Let's not place them in the honest category based on their most recent mistake. Lol

After the harsh review MAC did, I thought this would have happened sooner. Course, we are talking about Remington. This is a record considering the 700 recall.

I think they just had a very painful reminder that the direct and honest approach is probably the cheapest one in the long run.

Which brings their total score to -7.

Well hopefully Remington will take this as a wake up call and start doing things right again. When I saw the debut of this pistol I really wanted it to be a super star. Who knows, maybe they can start over and make it right. I hope so.....

If the R-51 could talk it would utter the Brando line from "On the Waterfront":

You don't understand. I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let's face it.

Agreed. Remington has messed up a lot of products lately and its a shame.

This all the more baffling because by most accounts, Remington's 1911 is actually a decent pistol.

A maker of long guns, that is having trouble doing that right, should leave handguns to those that know what they are doing. John Pedersen vs John M. Browning, you make the call. Brownings design is the basis for over 90% of the automatic pistols ever made. Everything Pedersen designed was either some kind of "Rube Goldberg" device or quickly forgotten!:bad:
