View Full Version : Dumb ? about carry handle sights
Allright,I am new to AR's and have a BCM carry handle.
The rear sight has two options that can be flipped to a small hole or a large hole.
Can someone please explain?
Thank you.
The large apeture is for close up work, hopefully with both eyes open if you can manage, 0-200m.
The second, smaller apeture is for longer distances. The smaller apeture will make the target apear a little larger to your eye.

The larger aperture was designed for use at night the small was for daylight.
It has since been "adapted" for use close-in. I would not say it's particularly accurate past CQB distance (YMMV), but it's good enough for government work.
There are no dumb questions.....
Answers on the other hand....
I run the small hole up all the time. Some people will keep the larger one up.
Right or wrong...good or bad ???
Try it both ways at different distances and see which one you like best. It's your call.
Some good info on your AR sights:

And for a good working/battle sight (50Y) zero: http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite/improvedbattlesightzero.msnw
Take a look at this when you get a spare day and before your next range trip.

I'm just as good with either one....
I stick with small unless it's dark or I'm going inside a house.
