I've loved these rifles for a long time.

I took my dad's old sporter (was a converted military) and reconverted it back to resemble a WWII sniper rifle.

I liked the no-frills, weathered look of the existing B&L optic (My dad bought it new the year I was born) so I kept it. I also really liked the chromed bolt.

I hunted with it a few times, but now it mostly sits in my safe.

Beautiful rifle and 30-06 is serious cartridge, I would put milled front bands on it
as befits such a fine piece of wood and steel.

Like so?

A good friend of mine recently bought a Smith-Corona 1903-A3. Beautiful gun, and easily the most accurate of his WWII rifles (though the Enfield bolt cycles faster and recoil is a bit easier on the shoulder). Nice to see a sporter restored at least partially to its as-issued glory. :D

Here's a pic from the impromptu "military heritage shoot" that we had on Memorial Day; the -03 is second from the left:

I love mine and now that I'm not so worried about losing high cap rights I might order another one of these in a 03A3 config.

That's a damned beautiful rifle you have there, Gutshot. I restored (sorta) an Enfield years ago and had to eventually sell it, which was painful. After recently acquiring my Garand my war rifle bug has kicked back in.

I love the old Springfields. Your A3 came out great Gutshot!

Here is my son's sporterized A3 that we picked up at a gunshow last year:

I have a couple in original condition and will have to take pics of them later.

We have one of these in the shop for like 595 that I drool over, but can never pull the trigger on for some reason. Every time I've broken the gongs at the club...it's been with '06

I've been looking for a "C" stock for my 03A3, as the original is cracked.

The CMP store was supposed to be getting some in, but AFAIK there's none there yet. Anyone know where I might find one, ready to use (not Boyd's). Thanks.

Here is mine, a former basket case sporter that I rescued a while back.
