Does anyone actually like Colt as a company? I don't. I recognize they have some historical weapons (think Peacemaker and pocket pistols from the roaring '20s) and that they make the most correct M4 Carbines on the market, but I don't actually like the company or anything else they sell for that matter. If the original M4 contract went to Remington or Winchester, Colt would have went out of business or been bought up a decade ago.

Colt as a company has been making moronic decisions for as long as i can remember (i'm 32). it took me until about 2009 to "forgive" the company for the shit they pulled in the late 80's and 90's. but now, why would i pay extra for a pony on the side when i can get as good product from a company whose integrity has not been called into question for a couple of decades ?

Not only do I not give a crap about Colt the company, I don't give a crap about Colt the products.

I can get anything they make elsewhere for the same or higher quality at a competitive price. And I do mean anything.

I agree that AR and 1911 shooters have a ton of value options. However, base 6920's are around $900 at CDNN and the MOE 6920 can be found for $1000. That is a pretty hard to beat value. Not to mention the fact that most custom pistol smiths consider the Colt 1911 to be the best base platform on the market - especially their rail gun.

just another company gone stagnant on govt contracts with lack of innovations

Unlikely... For the better part of the last 20 years, Colt has been an export company. Nearly 60% of their annual manufacturing capacity goes to foreign military sales. I certainly agree they have missed more than one wave in that time but the biggest threat to their survival is United Auto Workers Local 376 and Connecticut which owns nearly 50% of the company. That being said Zilkha is either an idiot or a genius. I'm leaning towards idiot but he has always found a way to pull through even while employing Laurel & Hardy to run the company.

Exactly, the quality to dollars spent makes Colt's AR's very hard to turn your nose up at! Colt's inc. may suck as a company, but that little pony still makes my motor run, as bad as their corporate strategy is, their product is still from a production standpoint, superb. I have one of the first rail guns that they put out, it was the best example of a Colt 1911 I'd seen in two decades...

I only own two Colts. A RR M16A1 and a 100th Ann. Rail Gun. I can't do better than the first and doing better than the CRG would cost and extra $700 over what I paid (Dan Wesson Specialist).

I have been putting Colt catalogues aside every year since the late '70s, expecting them to finally crash and burn each year. The prancing pony continues, but hanged if I can see how they do it. Smith and Wesson took the police market away from them decades ago, and everybody makes 1911s and ARs.

I wish they still had the handgun lineup they had in the 90's; Pythons, Anacondas, Combat Elite, etc...

I have a LOT of Colts, both ARs and 1911s....and a few others.

Colt Quality is what brings me back, same as HK. Both companies at different times have completely pissed me off. Must be what it is like to be a voting Democrat.
