View Full Version : Best parts to use?
I would like to know which parts you would use to build your own M4.
1.Barrel make
2.Upper make
3.BCG and type ie AR or M16
4.Lower make
5.Stock
6.Handguards
7.Anything I forgot
No extra rails or tactical parts just a straight M4 rifle. Make your best rifle and you can only spend 1500.00
Reason I used 1500.00 is that is about the cost of a Colt 6920 or a Noveske.
Why not just get the 6920? Cant go wrong there if you ask me.:)
I have to agree but would just like to see what people think. And the 6920 is pretty hard to find. And is it worth it to pay 200 or more extra for the name Colt. For resale definitely but to keep and use?
Is this a fantasy type qeustion? Hypothetical? or real? Are we talking about parts that are regularly available?

First thing is that I would not use and M4 barrel. A govt profiled barrel with Mid-Length gas system is superior in every way.
To stick with your specs though:
1. Noveske, LMT, Colt
2. LT Stealth or VLTOR MUR (billet). AO USGI contracted M4 (forging).
3. LMT or BCM
4. LMT SOPMOD, VLTOR EMOD, Magpul UBR
5. LT, DD, VLTOR
6. Charging handle: PRI Gas Buster
7. BUIS: Troy or KAC

If you watch you can find 6920s for $1300 give or take.
Slapping together an LMT upper and Lower is a good choice.
Noveske N4 Light basics go for $1400.
I do think you can build a quality rifle for less but those three choices are tough to beat built and ready to go.
Thanks Grant. Thay is good info especially about the barrel. Why is it everyone wants a 6920? Don't they have the M4 barrel profile?
This is a real question with real available parts.

Colt 6920 is the benchmark. There are other options though that are just as good (if not better).
