I'm working on putting together a complete lower half. Should I do something to help prevent the castle nut from coming loose like apply Lock Tite? Or is there another method? Is there a torque specification for how tight the castle nut should be or do I just tighten until it feels tight enough for me?

No, yes, yes, no.

This guy (http://thearmsguide.com/5135/ar-15-how-to-tips-stake-your-castle-nut-in-3-easy-steps/)has a pretty decent writeup. Make sure you have the proper tools and know how to use them.

Turn it down " nice and tight". Then stake it. Don't used loc-tite.
