EDIT: Correction - just been notified that he has 3500 not 1300, assumed too many olives last night. Stand corrected.
Are you positive? I've not heard of anyone with 3500 combat flight hours. Most are going to accumulate 3500 total hours and 300 or so combat hours.

His best friend, corrected me this morning, the next time I see him, I will verify. I know his motorcycle jacket has patches from Kosvo, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya & Afghanistan.

This is a link in 2010 to an airman who accumulated 2000 http://www.army.mil/article/34147/Aviator_reaches_2_000_combat_hours_in_flight/

That would be most impressive if so - usually pilots have total hours in the thousands, and combat hours in the hundreds.

ETA: Reference the linked article on the Army helo driver... That's an apples to oranges thing. Army Warrant Officers who fly are technicians. All they do is fly. They will rack up flight hours much more quickly and substantially than officers in any branch who fly.

I knew a guy with over 10K hours total,
Two VN tours, was the Son Tay Flight OIC,
retired from active duty in 89,
then retired again as a DAC about 5 years ago.

And I don't think he was over 1000 combat hours.

I'm guessing he has 3500 hours total time. Fighter guys usually fly between 200 and 250 hours a year. If he graduated from USAFA in '96 (which he did), then pilot training in late '97, plus a couple of years non-flying for a staff tour and Air War Collage, then 3,500 hour total time works out about right.

For what it's worth, in the 12 years I spent flying the C-130 I accumulated 3,700 hours total time and 578 hours combat time after 7 combat deployments. I know plenty of folks with well over 1000 combat hours.

1,300 hours combat time, or however much combat time he has, is still a whole lot of awesome.

You are correct, old # 48 graduated in 96. Finally had time to talk to him tonight, he has 1150 hours combat time, with 3500 hours flight time.

I salute you for your service!
