View Full Version : Recommendations on H322 and BL-C2
In the event that I run out of H335 I'm thinking about trying CFE223 if I can find it or BL-C2 which I've seen around quite a bit lately, or H322 which has been in stock in a few places over the past week. I'd be interested in anybody's experience with the BL or H322 since I've never used either and both are recommended for .223. I load 55gr FMJBT. Recommendations and anecdotes are welcomed. Thanks.

H322 is an outstanding powder - one of my favorites, but now I have to say I've never used it with 55gr bullets. I would feel like I'm wasting it using it with light bullets. I've only used a little of the h335 and i thought it was too flashy / smoky and it's limited to using it in the lighter bullets. CFE and BL-C2 I'm sure would work fine, and if it's available, load some up! When I load up 55 trainers I just use TAC since my shooting bros insist on keeping that around, and keep my extruded powders for the heavies.
H322 is a very good powder. It's a fast powder though. It's a benchrest style powder that meters great. Should be easy to work up loads with light bullets. I use it with mild primers for target loads with 77 gr OTMs.
As said above, H322 is a great powder, but it would feel like a waste using it on 55gr FMJ's... I'd stick with a cheaper ball powder for that kind of bullet.
Extruded powders like H322 are typically geared more toward match ammo.
I like H322 quite a bit. It's stable, works great with heavy bullets for precision ammo, and is fine for plinking ammo if you aren't obsessed with high velocity. Where I live, it's the same price as the ball powders, so I just use it for both blasting ammo and precision ammo.
I used to load with BL(C)-2, but I did not like how temperature sensitive it was. I still have rounds sitting on the shelf because they were fine in the early winter but too hot in the summer.
Yeah... H322 is the same price as everything else, but you do feel guilty running it with FMJs when you know how good it works with OTMs.
I had issues running H322 in a 55g projectile. After reading on here it turns out the CCI400 primer I was using wasn't the best one. I switched all my H322 loads to 69g and above with Wolf magnum primers and haven't had a problem with it since.
BLC2 is the best powder for me with bullets of 55-62 gr and 68/69 gr. For some reason I have got good but not great loads with BLC2 and 65 gr and 75/77 gr bullets. But 55 gr it is great!
