I've been looking at adding a 45 to my collection and am thinking of a Sig P220 SSE Carry. A friend of mine mentioned the Nightmare Carry might be worth looking at. Has anyone used both?

IMO the P227 made any other Sig in 45 obsolete.

I wouldn't spend anything on a new Sig. Too many horror stories.

Buy a well cared for old one.

I have fondled a Sig 227 SAS and the experience was short of a Margarita and a fine cigar.......close.

Like what? I'm hardly a Sig fanboy, but they build good pistols. Some of their stuff is goofy, buts Sigs work.

They had a few rough years, but they were still good and are way past that now.

Personally, I have 10,090 rounds through my various Sig pistols and rifles that were bought within the last three years. They all run fantastically.

OP, since you're looking for a carry gun I'd say the 220 Compact might be the way to go. If you can go bigger than that, the 227.

I would venture to say that if you stick with the Classic P22x series guns you should be fine. If I was looking for a .45ACP Sig the P227 is the one I would go buy.

Love my common ole p220...nice thin grip makes it the best sig 45 without a doubt. I wanted a 227 until I wrapped my hand around one, that killed that desire quick. Mines a 2012 model and I've had one failure and that was a friends reloads. (set back upon feeding) I really like the sig brand night sights also...

Back on topic. I own a P227R and it runs well. Why buy a P220 when the P227 exists? As for the 1911, well it's 2014 now, lots of better options.

Thanks for the input, i was looking for something a bit smaller than the P227. I've got an X5 lightweight with about 3000 rounds through it and no failures, so I'm confident Sigs reliability.

I hear you, but I'm looking for something to throw in the glove box and occasionally carry. The P227 seems too big for this application and truth be told I like the look of the Stainless SIGs.
How do you find the accuracy of the 227 at 25 yards?

I much prefer the 220 in MY hand than the 227. Buy the SIG you want, without concern about quality, as they are making some of the best pistols they've made for some time. Also, I've had excellent dealings with their service dept. If you want a .45, the 220 is a hard SIG to beat.

As good as any other high quality production gun - it will not be the limiting factor for 95% of the people on this forum.
