View Full Version : Best movies with M4's or Carbine AR's?

The ones I can think of (in no particular order):

1. Act of Valor

Lots of M4 action in this one.

2. Heat

Just one of the bank robbers has a CAR15 clone, but it's used extensively in one scene.

3. The Postman

Not such a fantastic movie, but the carbine AR's are used throughout the movie. That kind of saves it from the trash heap as far as I'm concerned.

4. Blackhawk Down

Two of the characters have carbine M16's. Eric Bana's character is in more scenes than the other. Overall, though, this movie has mostly full rifle-length M16's.

5. Broken Arrow

Toward the end, Christian Slater's character hoses down the train carrying the bad guys pretty good with a CAR clone. One of the bad guys has a snipered-out carbine in an earlier scene. Other than that there are mostly other types of weapons in the flick.

6. Platoon

Willem Dafoe and Tom Berenger both carry CAR clones.

That's all I can think of.

Are there any other good movies with carbine AR's, especially through the whole movie?

My favorites from the list:

The Park is Mine (1985) - Some of the cops have them.

Lord of War (2005) - Models at arms show.

Miami Vice - several episodes.

Tears of the Sun (2003) - Several of them, some with backwards Aimpoints.

Captain America 2 has some good scenes with what looks like M4A1's, some with grenade launchers. The Winter Soldier uses it in a fight scene on the bridge.

Hell, there are actually quite a few good movies with ARs in them. Carbine or not.

Lots of M4s in the hands of HYDRA agents.

And Falcon uses one he took off a HYDRA agent... With a knife. And Cap used a Noveske (probably one from The Expendables) in The Avengers. Not to mention all the SHIELD/STRIKE operatives armed with M4s.

On that vein... Thomas Jane as Frank "The Punisher" Castle used an M4A1 with underslung '203 and Aimpoint M2 in The Punisher.

Some nicely appointed 416s in Zero Dark Thirty.

Though not a movie I like The Unit sans the bat shit crazy women.

I know a lot of nut jobs creamed them selves over I am Legend.

Small B movie called "the objective"

If you mute the green zone and hurt locker they both have decent displays.

Tears of the sun was good though already mentioned along with act of valor and some others.

I kind of liked Miami Vice but agree that it could have been so much more, But they sure had a lot of badass weapons in that one !! Were the weapons that Wil Smith had in his car in Bad Boys 2 HK UMP's ? Wish I could afford toys like that :(

I have a love / hate relationship with that movie and the Israel scenario is a perfect example.

They were smart enough to have a "fail safe" system in place that let them get a huge jump on the zombie outbreak but they weren't smart enough to figure out zombies are attracted to sound and couldn't just "shut the hell up" and had to sing a bunch of stupids songs which caused a zombie pile up and breach.

Parts of the movie were brilliant and realistic and parts seemed like people allowed their kids to do some of the writing. And the stupid stuff was enough to tank the entire film.

I think overall its still a good movie, although its not without its faults. They left it somewhat open-ended, so I'm not sure if there will be a sequel but it seems like a possibility.

When it comes to decent zombie movies, WWZ is on my short list. Although I do like the Resident Evil movies (which feature M4's too IIRC), they're much too video game-y and unrealistic.

I just re-watched Act of Valor. Pure M4 delight from beginning to end. Maybe the best M4 movie of all time like Red Dawn is the best AKM movie of all time.

I'd have to say Black Hawk Down is the best M16A2 movie and maybe Platoon is the best M16A1 movie.

Anybody got anymore suggestions?

"The Raid: Redemption" should be on NetFlix. It's a foreign film in some Asian language, so you have to read subtitles. But as far action movies go, it's just as good as the title sounds corny.

The Raid:Redemption and The Raid 2 are some of the most incredible action movies on the planet IMO. The fight scenes are second to NONE. Indonesian film, they use a martial art called "pencak silat" which is unlike anything we have here. If you haven't seen either of these films, do yourself the favor and find them!

Did you know they shot that scene with live ammo? I love the Act of Valor movie, but the "extra features" DVD has some stuff almost as cool as the movie. Stuff like how it took a few years to make the movie because the SEALs were deploying in the middle of it. Also, how they used live ammo in the Fast Boat scene was a big surprise to the producers and directors, and they had to wrap their head around it.

Finally, something the directors realized while researching the movie was very similar to what happened during another of my favorite movies, "Miracle"...the directors realized they could never find actors who could realistically execute the scenes with fluidity like the real deal gunfighter could, and decided rather than try teaching an actor to run tactics and missions, they'd teach SEALs to act...same as Miracle, where they used real hockey players (including a hockey-playing son of one of the olympians) rather than actors to portray to 1980 US Olympic hockey team players.

Guess the best aspect of the movie and it's weapons and gun handling to me is the very simple and powerful authenticity

Yes I remember reading an article about most of the guns being airsoft, but that the actors got to shoot real versions of all the guns to get a real feel for recoil impulse etc.

I still thought it was really cool to see the PDW's in there. I know most people who don't have any strong interest in firearms just see it as another gun, but whenever I see a rare gun in a movie it makes you wonder how they acquired it. (I know props people for the actual filming, but from the perspective of the movie itself. Ie how did a Indonesian gang/mafia get their hands on them considering how exclusive they are).
