Anyone have one? I'm thinking about picking one up. Any reason not to? I skimmed over the P-07 thread. Seems like the P-07 may have had some growing pains, but the reviews on the P-09 seem pretty positive. Thanks for any input.

I don't own one but my friend does and I got to shoot it and I was really impressed with it.
Shot it back to back with my Glock 17 and some other guns and it was one of the softest shooting, most controllable, steadiest shooting guns I can recall.

The p09 appears to be more readily available in my area. Have not seen a p07 for some time. The p09 grip seemed slimer and longer than a full sized Glock in my opinion. Almost comparable to the length of the Ruger SR9 grip.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go for it. Going to run me $510 OTD, seems like a lot of gun for the money. Only downsides I've found so far is a general lack of available holsters, and expensive magazines ($45-$50) I'll probably sell off one of my Hi-Powers to fund it, so hopefully I'm happy with the purchase.

These seem to be excellent guns. The only downside is the sight options. With Glock, S&W, others you have a full range of options. This is almost never the case for CZs.

Here is a sight option for the p07/9

Seems like these would make an excellent winter gun. That trigger guard has a huge opening and should accommodate gloves easily.

Military arms channel made a similar observation on the sphinx which is essentially a p07 only more expensive.

Indeed there ARE sight options:

http://czcustom.com/czp09parts.aspx

My point is that they are limited ALTHOUGH, there are much more than previous for CZ. But there is not much at all in ledge sights.

If I wear all but thin gloves, the trigger guard pinches my fingers in my G19. I used to think the P07's guard excessive, but I'm not so sure.

Handled one beside a P30 yesterday. The P30 is NOT worth the extra $400 unless its performance is a real edge, and that seems not to be the case.

I really like mine, picked it up a few weeks ago. This thing is a quality firearm, it's cosmetically perfect. The grip is about 1/2" longer than the P-07.

At the range it's been perfect with factory ammo, I did find that without wrists of steel 3.5gr of titegroup won't make it cycle, nor will 4 of power pistol with the stock recoil assembly. However.com when I stepped up to 4gr of tg and 5 of PP there's been zero problems. It's accuracy is just like everyone says about the CZ's. Mine hand the "dingy" tritum night sights, not nearly as bright as those on my p220 but they're still bright enough. Somewhat vague during the daylight is my only complaint.
Makes me want to buy a CZ p-07 for CC.

I bought one of the FDE with night sight P-09s in the spring. Did some polishing of the trigger parts and put in a CGW Short Reset Kit along with a lighter hammer spring. Got the DA to 7lbs 1oz and SA to 3lbs 4oz and very smooth. I have the medium backstrap on mine. Gun fits my hand great. Shoots very well. Recoil spring is pretty heavy from the factory, I'm sure setup for defensive loads. I believe CGW is going to have some custom recoil springs in a couple weeks. It has become one of my favorite pistols. Would certainly buy one again and am wanting to pick up a P-07 eventually for carry. Aftermarket is growing for these pistols.

Owning a P-07 and a 75BD, I'd personally pass on the P-09 and go straight to a SP-01 or SP-01 Tactical.

I have an SP-01 Shadow as well as my P-09 and I have to say for general use I prefer my P-09. The Shadow is certainly an excellent gun and is extremely popular in competition circles, but unless I'm using it just as a range/game gun I think the P-09 has a number of benefits. The most obvious difference is the weight, if I'm hiking or backpacking or shooting a long range rifle match with a pistol portion (which generally includes a fair amount of walking) the considerably lighter weight of the P-09 is much appreciated after a while. Next up is simplicity and ease of maintenance. While the standard CZ75 guns aren't complicated if you know what you're doing the P-07/09 guns are very easy to take apart with nothing more than a handheld punch (stripping the slide requires a hammer and punch.) The ability to swap between a decocker setup and a manual safety is also nice, depending on personal preference. It seems based on reports from multiple sources that the P-07/09 guns have not lost out on any of the fantastic accuracy or reliability of the normal CZ75 guns either.

I certainly don't mean to talk down the SP-01 guns, as I said I have one and love it, but I think that for general use the P-09 does have some advantages.

Remove the factory screw from the guide rod and you can run Glock springs or the standard round wire CZ 75 springs just fine.

The P07 thread has a ton of info about the 09 as the thread talks more about the "series" of pistols than specific models.

I think the P-09 has a number of benefits. The most obvious difference is the weight,
My P-07 is 28 oz, without magazine. My 75BD is 35 oz. That small of a difference is not an issue for me. BTW, those are actual weights hanging the pistols from a Lyman digital trigger scale.

Yeah, the SP-01 is a few ounces more than the 75, but so is the 09 compared to the 07.

The deal breaker for me is the grip shape. The 75/SP-01/P-01 grip wins hands down for me.

124gr TC cast & powder coated CCI primers.

You still using the stock recoil assembly? Maybe I just need more rounds to break it in more or something...

My only problem is now I have to outfit one of my AR in magpul FDE to match it. LOL

Some good action shots.

Weird.... Yea stock assembly on change up was a short reset kit and upgraded hammer from Cajun.

You gotta match the shoes to the dress brother!! :)

Checked one out a while back and it seemed pretty nice and priced decently. I am very much not a fan of DA/SA guns but I still liked it a decent amount.

Anyone who says over a half a pound weight increase of a pistol ain't much, is either a huge guy, or doesn't carry for very long.

Agreed, 100%

SP01's are 40+ ounce guns...that's a pretty big jump from a 32 ounce gun.

Once I get some extra mags, holster and mag holders I'll be looking at the CGW upgrades.

I'll also revisit the 3. now 6 grains of TG once my new groveless hardline industries mold comes in (also 124g TC).

P09 has become my favorite pistol. My Glocks and custom Hi Powers now sit in the safe. Will be adding a P07, with a Cajun action job and will get it milled for a RMR.

You can run an 18 lbs flat wire spring in the p09 and it helps with softer shooting rounds. Stock is 20 lbs
