Which one to choose?
Forget price
what works best?

Purely for making the gun not recoil? Either one of the silly "tank" style brakes or the SJC Titan. Both are LOUD though.
The Surefire works damned well too, and leaves the option to stick a suppressor on it.

If you are not planning on using a can, I tried a JP Brake while I was waiting for my Form4 to clear. Shot as soft as a rifle gas AR. Much softer but much louder.

I ended up with a SWR Trifecta on my .308 AAC-SD. I spend more time at the range than I do hunting with this rifle, and a brake would not make me any friends on the line. The uneven tines produce no "ping" and I get damn near no flash from cheap Remington stuff or Black Hill match ammo.
I do have a Lantac Dragon .308 on the way for when I am out hunting.
Suppressor is the goal in the end, but will be awhile.
A chassis system and optic will come first.
I do all my practice shooting at my own range. Noise is not an issue, unless you are my neighbors lol, 10 years later so far no complaints.
And there is a LOT of bangs out here almost every weekend.
Funny you should ask. I just did this :0)

I did this for two reasons: 1. My 10 and 13 year old can deer hunt with it so to speak cut down on the recoil and they love it btw. 2. So I can mount the can on it and have fun at the range and I think I may even like it more than scar 17 now that I shot about 300 rounds through it.
And my wife liked to shoot it as well. But mainly this was done as a kids hunting rifle .... My wife just said " yea right" :0)http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/09/22/da55f280e68c596c9626aca2e203aa72.jpg
So what brand is that?
Better than Scar 17 huh? I also have a Scar 17 and I let my 9 and 11 year old shoot it, not the 700 though
packs a lot more punch.
Btw the can I use is AAC SDN-6. I just wish AAC had some feature to prevent accidental mount of my M4-2000 on it. I just have to mark my cans to avoid this. :0)
Well after you install this brake you may like it more than the 17 don't get me wrong the 17 is awesome but rem 700 become the sweet shooting tool.

Thanks, I was just about to ask which model
Also make sure that you address the recall for your rem700

By that you mean send money to Huber Concepts or Timney? :p
Already decided on a Timney
Timney trigger
NightForce NXS
Been looking hard at the MDT TAC 21 chassis with PRS stock
Mainly because it fits the budget, I have Scar17 and AR15, its ergonomics look fitting to keep things feeling similar between the rifles. I posted a thread asking if anyone has tried the chassis but no luck.
Since a suppressor is on the list the Surefire and AAC are looking awful tempting

I just got mine back from rem. regardless of the trigger swap that you are planing to do, if that was me I would still send it to rem. it cost you nothing. I just think that my kids will be using it so why risk it.
Having said that, mine has a nightforce shv on it as it is focused more towards hunting. It has an MOAR illuminated reticule. The covered turrets are nice for dragging it through the woods. Nightforce nxs is on my scar.
I use AAC only because I have m4-2000 for my 223/.22 cal rifle and pistols so I just wanted the same quality. I am sure the surefire suppressor is just as good.

I don't let my kids shoot the 700 (yet), at this stage it is just a back field bench rifle for Dad.
that has a future ahead of it. We mainly deer hunt and can't use high power rifles in our state for deer, which sucks!!
However we do have some growing numbers of feral pigs, thats where it and the Scar come in. Along with going out of state to seek wild boar.
The 700 will await the rest of its goodys until our deer season is over.
Then its just going to be one big order.

Regarding chassis, take a look at the AI AX or the KRG or XLR. If you want to spend crazy money you can look at the Cadex Chassis, which is the basis for the Remington MSR. Regarding brakes I went the Surefire as I liked the looks over the AAC and the AAC 90 Tooth ring for the suppressor gave me serious pause

Well this is what I have so far.
What is 90 tooth ring?

Damn that Cadex looks nice, I havnt seen those
51 tooth compared to 90 tooth, they are smaller, and much closer together
Like a fine tooth Snap-On ratchet, smoother operation
I dont know about crazy money but the chassis I was looking at is without grip and stock.
Price is $689, the PRS is around $250
That's not too far off.
Rail space is a MUST as this will be a primarily nocturnal hog hunter

Cadex I was thinking of is $2k to start
Nice rifle and scope combo

I jus finished a similar build. Rem 700min .308, AI AX Chassis, pre-2014, NightForce 5.5-25x56. Never rang up the total, don't want to know. Will post pics once I get them.
Nice, I have anticipated around the $5k mark on this one
But I snatched up a Scar 17 in meantime...
minor setback.
It needs a US Optics 1-8 SRC too
Nice rifle and scope combo
Thank you. My dream however is to get a bulpop chassis. Never seen one for this gun. But I am sure someone will have it available.

Want to look into a bolt upgrade with bigger bolt handle for any chassis that I choose

KRG has a nice add-on bolt handle that fits right over the standard Rem 700 bolt

Yeah I figured around $5k. That's why I didn't want to think about it. Just started a build with both a 14.5 and a18" upper with an EXPS3-0 /3x on the 14.5 and a Vortex PST 2.5-10x44 on the 18". Should be done in a couple weeks
I saw the KRG, probably what I will do first to the bolt action.
It's intentions are to kill wild pigs after our deer season, Jan/Feb
means COLD and big thick warm gloves
I have had an el cheapo DPMS AR with just a Magpul CTR STOCK, AFG 2, MOE GRIP, and a Streamlight Pro Tac HL 600 lumen light, with a Nikon P223 scope,
Time to upgrade

KRG has a couple different options for that. You can buy their new Polymer X-ray Forend or they have a Skid Plat for the Whiskey-3 to protect it and the shooters hand from the temps
I was referring to having a larger bolt knob to grab, but thanks thats a couple more chassis systems I was not aware of to read up on

Gotcha. You would think i work for KRG ;), but just went through the same thing. Check out their Bolt Lift...it was what I was referring to in the previous post. It is a polymer piece that fits right over the standard Remington Bolt Knob and gives you something to grab onto and heck of a lot easier then cutting / threading the current one for a Badger or getting a new bolt.
Well I guess I need to decide on which suppressor to go with Surefire or AAC.
Unfortunately I have never shot or been around any suppressors being in action,
and I know youtube videos don't do any justice.

You can also check out the SilencerCo line of products as well
Well I think I am going for the Surefire SOCOM brake on this one
as it will impatiently await a Surefire SOCOM suppressor.

Always a good choice. Same reason i went that way
I buy once
The wife is who cries once;)
In fact... I'll take 2
so I can put the suppressor on Scar too
