While in a local gunshop on the wall of AR was one that caught my eye. I'll describe it as best I can...

Tag said Colt LE model
Carbine stock and gas system. M203 profile barrel 16" A2 FH
Triangle handguards and FSP.
A2 upper, fixed handle.
I did not look for markings on the upper, brain fried from eye candy
Colt lower had no SP1 markings.
C2/M4 Carbine buttstock and A2 pistol grip.

I don't remember seeing any LE/MIL restrictions or a model number on lower.

Thinking about it, It looked like a 6520 with carbine triangle handguards for $1250.00.

Am I thinking this is something more than it really is?

Do you recognize it from this list? Odd source but it appears to be accurate.

Could it be a home build?

Very good reference material. Closest I saw is this,

28697

Add M4 buttstock and triangle carbine length handguards.

28698

Most likely has had some changes from original. I had never seen carbine triangle handguards,
only rifle length on the SP1 Rifles we had.

Again, Thanks.

Sounds like a COLT that had some non factory tweaks. I'd beware.
