In an alert regarding a change of terms, Square notified vendors:

…you will not accept payments in connection with the following businesses or business activities: …sales of (i) firearms, firearm parts or hardware, and ammunition; or (ii) weapons and other devices designed to cause physical injury.

The new terms differ from Square’s original terms of agreement, which banned only the “online” sales of firearms, a practice for which sites such as the popular eBay have long been criticized. (Square’s terms, by the way, also prohibit the online sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products—goods that also are targeted by Operation Choke Point.)

Any way for us to put pressure on this company and/or the government to rescind this?

How does square know what the buyer is purchasing. Are they blanket not processing transactions from gun shops? Their policy seems to limit "lethal" items so to speak, but is a range bag designed to cause injury??

Best thing to do is not use Square. There should be other CC swipe processing centers that are affordable. Or you can contact MC, Visa, Amex and inform them of all the swipe charges they won't get because of Square.

This was part of "operation choke point" which put firearm related businesses in same high-risk category as porn. Isn't it?

There is a company (have to remember their name) in FL (Tampa?) that specializes in providing square type service to the firearms industry.

Oh we have proof of them doing just that in many cases. I just haven't heard anything on it in this situation.

Private business not government.

Equal opportunity clause. Firearm sales, if done legally, or not illegal, and the 2A and all. They are hampering people in exercising their rights.

I've know about this for over a year. We tried to get set up to use one for our rifle range and it was a no go. Screw 'em, we went with http://www.gopai.com/shooting/ and it's been fine.
