View Full Version : Support Group for People Waiting for ATF Approval

Is there a support group for people waiting to hear from the ATF about their applications for SBRs, suppressors, select-fire, etc.?

I'm at 15 business days and counting after submitting my eForm 1 via Trust.

:)

I won't even mention my suppressor purchase, Form 4. That's just too depressing to think about.

I'll join. What are the dues, and where are the meetings? 10 stamps pending, all paper F4s....so absolutely no idea when they show up. Four pending between 7/24-8/4, then two bought last week, and four bought three days ago.

It is a pro-bono group, you just have to pay for the whiskey, and I recommend a fine Irish single grain 12+ year old brand.

:)

I'm expecting to hear back and hear I screwed something up, no fault of your's though, I followed your instructions, I think, to the letter, but we shall see.

I let Silencer Shop handle my silencer purchase.

I'm waiting on my BCM lower to be approved as my SBR build.

I considered going the pistol route, but I said, "Oh, screw it, I'm just going to go the full SBR route."

And now I wait....15 business days in...and counting.

Of the many idiotic things the laws require, the idiocy of regulating how long my rifle's barrel length is totally bewilders me.

I'm in the same boat, mccain. I think we submitted the same day. I efiled a F1 for my LRB lower. Next is a F4 suppressor

Will Oban 14 yr scotch do?

ptmccain
09-27-14, 11:58
Yes, if you bring it, that Scotch will do.

We'll get through this, guys. So what are your plans with your incoming F1 stamp?

You guys are breaking my heart. I had to wait 16 months to take possession of a Kriss SBR I bought from a widow woman. Sixteen months as in the traditional ten months plus six more months for her stupidity and incompetence.

SBR, BCM 11.5 upper.

Form 4 is also processing for a Surefire SOCOM556-RC suppressor.

Hi my name is Dave and I'm a suppressorholic, it's been 26 days since I first realized that I have this problem.
I would first like to apologize to everyone if I seem a bit moody while I go through my suppressor withdrawals.
I first recognize the symptoms when I purchased not one but two suppressors from the silencershop.com.
I do feel a little relief in knowing that my form 3 has been approved and that my suppressor is on its way to my local FFL where I will have conjugal visits for the duration of the ATF sentence.

Hello Group,
My name is AErcen. I am an addict. I have a Saker 5.56, Saker 7.62, Sparrow, and an Osprey in ATF Waiting Hell. I am trying to quit. I have not bought any suppressors for almost 5 months. I am really trying to quit. I need a sponsor to keep me in check and intercept the solicitations I get from Silencerco.
I thought I would introduce myself to the group and hope for a group hug.

ptmccain
09-28-14, 13:55
Sorry, we do not do group hugs, only mighty, manly hand clasps.

SBR, BCM 11.5 upper.

Form 4 is also processing for a Surefire SOCOM556-RC suppressor.

Nice. I'm in between building a 10.5" upper w/ a Geiselle SMR Mk2 or Mk5 Keymod or buying a complete BCM 11.5" upper

The person in charge of NFA items at my gun store told me that the eForms were down again and weren't taking trusts. Is that true?

ptmccain
09-28-14, 16:04
I submitted my Form 1 via Trust on September 6 and it took then. The entire ATF site is always down on Wednesdays for "maintenance" whatever that means. Maybe just to slow the applications.

AErcen

They appear to be working right now.

Kind of.

The forms a gun store would mostly like want to file (Form 3 and Form 4) are not available in EForms.

But the system itself is up, and forms such as 1, 2, 5, 6, 6A and 9 are available (that list from memory, so may not be accurate).

Could this be the week for Form 1 approval, submitted via eForm on 9/6, for lower for SBR?

We shall see.

Ordered a liberty triumph a few weeks ago. I've resigned myself to about a years wait =/ Now I'm just looking at getting other suppressors in the queue. I'll probably snag a mystic x when they come out as well as a lightweight 22LR can. I'm open to suggestions for that guy :p

My form 1 SBR stamp came back before I could even put together a parts list =/ I wish they were opposite wait times.

My suppressors have officially been transferred to the local FFL and tomorrow I will start step 2 of the process.

ptmccain
10-01-14, 17:10
Great news, what is "Step 2"...

I have a suppressor that I've had handled by Silencer Shop, they are doing the whole tax stamp, transfer to local dealer thing.

What do you have to once the local guy gets your suppressor?

ptmccain
10-01-14, 17:12
Noticed today the latest eForm 1 via Trust took 26 business days, I'm up to 17.

It is silly. Ridiculous. Puerile. Immature.

But I can't wait!!! I want my SBR. I want to make loud noises at the range.

Until I get my suppressor in who knows when.

Fill out the Form 4 and write the $200 check.

Tomorrow we fill out form four and send it in with the money required to begin the long process of waiting for the form to be approved, at least in the meantime I can visit my suppressor at the local FFL.

OK, got it. Thanks. I think my local guy will get it once the hurdles have all been cleared by Silencer Shop who handled everything for me. Theoretically once all is kosher, I just walk into the local guy and pick it up and walk out.

I'll be doing 2 builds with the Geissele Mk8, wasn't a huge fan of M-Lok but it has grown on me and that Geissele rail is friggin bomb proof. May want to look into the Mk8, Geissele announced it will be made in 10 & 15" variants along with their 13".

Maybe on the next build lol. My Mk2 just came in today. The only thing I plan on attaching to the rail is my SF mini scout and sling. I agree their rails are very nice

I would really consider efiling unless you have nowhere to upload your trust or you're filing as an individual

Going the individual route at this point. Waiting to find out about a trust and the ex-wife's litigation...

I'm starting to have some regrets. Ordered a Surefire SOCOM RC 5.56, check cashed last month, then a few weeks ago I was made aware of the SilencerCo Saker K model, and it looks great on paper. Is there any way to sell a new suppressor without taking a big loss? If not, I know I have a solid suppressor on the way, and I can just hold out for the latest and greatest further into the future.

BigWaylon
10-08-14, 21:37
If your local dealer won't let you cancel, your best bet is to try to sell it face-to-face in state. It's the same $200 stamp and a Form 4. They wouldn't have to wait on a Form 3, or pay sales tax, so you may find a buyer.

If you tried to sell it out-of-state, it would involve two tax stamps, and that usually prices people out of the game unless you're willing to take a huge loss.

Guys, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. We already have an NFA transfer times thread, along with a set of photos threads. Not kneeing anybody in the junk, but this stuff does have a home already.

The OP won't be back, so there's not really a point of this one staying open. Thanks.
