Range: 100 Yards
Case: Lapua 1x fired
Bullet: 175g SMK
Powder: 42.2g IMR4064
Primer: WIN LRP
COL: 2.800
Wind: Calm
Rifle: HK MR762

The 200 yard range was closed for some Cowboy action baloney, so I changed my plans and shot the 100 instead.

This rifle really likes 175g SMK's, I've yet to find a bullet this rifle won't shoot well. Would like to have stretched these bullets legs on the 200 yard range as I was pretty steady on this trip.

- I shot these over my chronograph and they ran an average velocity of 2,432 FPS.
- No malfunctions, everything I've shot through this rifle has functioned 100% with zero malfunctions period.
- Best part, cleanup was a snap and roughly only 15 minutes of work.

Congrats.

What optic and mount did you use?

How many rounds through the gun?

You may have posted about this elsewhere, but due to problems with the search feature, I can't find it.

thanks

I have a Nikon scope and 20 MOA mount on it now that works, but I am not happy with, as the clarity and eye relief sucks pretty bad at high magnification. Obviously not an issue at 100 yards, but my desire is to shoot longer ranges with this rifle.

I would guess 500 rounds through it at this point. I don't keep a log of all of my shots, just the decent ones.

Nice. How do you like that HK MR762? Been thinking about saving up for one as a battle rifle config. The rifle cost doesn't bother me, but the cost of mags is insane.

Absolutely love it, the mag cost is a nit and about the same cost as mags for my SCAR17S.

Great range report. Where are you finding 417/MR762 mags at the same cost as SCAR17 mags?

Thanks, both at my LGS. Neither are cheap.

Yeah, I may have to attach each mag to a retractable cable so that they never leave my person. Definitely not disposable. :D

Dude, you can get new SCAR-H mags from Brownells or Midway for < $40 each. The cheapest I've seen MR762 mags are for $70-80 each. Having said that, I'm sure they're good quality, and one must take into account the costs of an all steel SR-25 magazine made by LMT or Knights ($80-120). All of the aforementioned mags have seen use in Afghanistan, so should in theory hold up with use.

Moving on, have you tried running your MR762 suppressed yet? I wish HK would come out with a civilian version of the new HK 417A2 model, as it features an adjustable gas regulator for suppressed use like the HK 416A5: http://www.heckler-koch.com/en/products/military/assault-rifles/hk417/hk417-a2-165/overview.html

I'm sure the MR762 makes a great DMR platform, as it possesses a heavier profile cold-hammer forged barrel. I just wish it had the adjustable gas regulator for suppressed use. If they did, they would have a rifle arguably superior to the LMT MWS and certain Knight's models for the DMR role or for hunting mid-sized game (hogs, deer, Taliban, ISIS etc).

I've shot few hundred shots suppressed with my MR308, without the adjustable port. Works fine, but the ejection pattern changes a bit from 4-5 o'clock to 3 o'clock. I don't think it is working the gun too hard at that level yet. I shoot mostly unsuppressed, because the rifle does get somewhat dirty inside with the suppressor and I am a lazy bastard.

I figured I would just add my latest range trip to this thread.

The wind was blowing so hard at times, it was hardly worth shooting, but other than the wind, the weather was too nice not to be out shooting.

No I have not.

What suppressor do you have?

When we did accelerometer testing on the MR762, it seemed the choice of can had a lot to do with additional G's on the system. We found that the OSS was the can of choice on the MR762. (why we (HD)selected it for SCAR applications as well)

These were shot without one.......I have the OSS on my list for my HK rifles. My others will be getting an Omega.
