The usual 5.56mm flavor. Apparently called the Fateh ("Conqueror").
Looks like an LMT piston and rear sight. Also, why the 203 cuts for a user group that I assume doesn't have 203s?

This even real? Looks like the bastard child of an XM8, an AR15, and the ACR as depicted by tokyo marui. The fact the guy shouldering it looks like he is a regular mk1 mod 0 firearm noob doesn't make me take it any more seriously. I mean did they troll TOS and grab all the things that make mall ninjas get hard ons? On the plus side am sure it will stoke the fire of the 5.56 vs 7.62X39 debate.

It looks like something they reversed engineered from images captured from TOS and Bushmaster's site. The M203 cut out made me LOL.
Amazing that they can be in the 21rst century when it comes to armaments but when it comes to barbarity they are still in the middle ages and have witch trials.

Iran is probably the most westernized middle eastern country...literally right there with Israel and the UAE. In many respects they are well ahead of much of the region...both in terms of education and civility. I also think it's fair to say that they are at least as democratic as Israel as well.
If it wasn't for the hostility between our two governments, I'd travel there in a heartbeat with no concerns for my safety. At least no more concerns than traveling anywhere else that's moderately civilized.
I gotta say, that cap is ballin'.

I mean just look at the lower. There's exact AR placement of mostly everything, even the trigger guard.
They could've built up the upper to look like an ACR with modelling clay or fiberglass or something. The stock looks like they saw a picture of the ACR and SCAR and replicated it without knowing why it looks like it does, namely to be an adjustable height cheek riser.
Kind of like the ACR used in Oblivion by Tom Cruise.
Until I see a video of a function check in which everything works as it should and is followed by a live fire demonstration, I'm going to assume it's a mockup prop for PR.

Looks really plasticy.... I'll second the "mock-up" theory.
And really, could they be less original with the design? I mean, it looks like some guy either took an AR and built a body kit for it, or somehow figured out how to mate a SCAR upper with an AR/ACR lower...

There is a large segment of Iranian population (better make sure you call them "Persians" or you will get an earful) who detest the oppression of the ruling regime and the ways of its radical supporters. And while there are many decent folk in Iran, I would never say that Iran in its current state is anywhere close to being as "civilized" as Israel.
It wouldn't surprise me if this was a real rifle, at least as far as any of their "were the best military, most advanced technological fighting force in the world!" propaganda goes. I always wonder if they really belive themselves. Lol!

Sure...they "can" be. During the 70s under the Shah, even with the human rights violations, there were of course decent people. I haven't been there, but I suspect even today there are some "decent people" if you looked hard enough.
The problem is we are talking about Iran the Islamic Theocracy which is ruled by Sharia Law so you have institutionalized barbarity. And as a result that is their "normal" and it is rarely questioned. And even if you do get a Sophie Scholl who can see past it all and realizes it's wrong, they are eradicated pretty quickly today just as in the past.
The first people in the first concentration camp at Dachau weren't Jews but political prisoners who pointed out that what people were suggesting in 1930's Germany was "wrong."
