Sadly she passed away on Sept. 30. We mostly hear of Amelia Earhart when the topic of women in aviation is brought up. I didn't even know of Jerrie's accomplishments until news of her death surfaced on the internet. What a lady. We salute you Mrs. Mock.

And she accomplished her feat in this, a Cessna 180!

What an amazing woman. There's little spirit of adventure left in this country.

People here(in America, at the water cooler, our favorite bars, online forums, or wherever) would no longer applaud such an undertaking from someone without much experience in a plane falling apart. If she failed and perished we'd be keen to say things like "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" and other things that diminish the spirit that pushes humanity.

We could have gone to Mars already if we all had a hundredth of the balls on that lady...and we could have done so for not that much money.

She was just having fun. Very cool lady.

Well that and if we didn't have to endure LBJ's War on Poverty . . .

Now here is a woman who actually did some real things before any other woman.

Why the hell did I never hear about her in school? Why the hell have I seen endless news stories about other women who did far, far less?

It's because of that damn War on Women bro . . .

The irony is that the femanazis don't want school children learing about the likes of Jerrie Mock when they can be indoctrinated with "pioneers of women's rights" like Margaret Sanger and Billary Clinton.

Just my opinion, me thinks in this case it was the character of the individual. She seemed to be the quiet type that puts together a plan, prepares for it, and gets it done. Like she said, it was for the fun of it. A few moments of recognition and then it was back to being a housewife and mother again. The media really doesn't care for individuals like that. There's no drama to exploit.
