I LOVE this rifle!
That is nearly the exact config I am looking at for my next rifle! About the only things I plan to do different is using a T1 in La Rue mount, Magpul MIAD with the enhanced trigger guard, and a Magpul MOE handguard when they're available.
Noveske 16.1 Recon upper. AN/PVS-14 w/ GG&G mount, EOTech Mod. 552 w/ Accucam, Surefire M900 w/ IR guidelights, Vltor Modstock, YHM BUIS, CAA G27 pistol grip.

I had Grant at G&R build me this upper using an N4 Light Recce barrel. It has a 12" LaRue rail on it. It's on a Sabre Defense lower I had sitting around, but I'm putting together a Noveske lower for it so the names will match nicely. :)

Decodeddiesel, you won't be sorry with that choice! I am curious to see Magpuls new handguard as well though I kind of have my heart set on an Omega rail. I'd be interested in trying a MIAD as well.
A buddy of mine bought pretty much the exact same rifle that I have pictured (on my recommendation!) except that he had John install an Omega rail right away. Wow is that nice! Very slim, low profile and light. It doesn't make the rifle feel clunky like some rail systems I've seen.

It's trinket I got for my G19, called the LaserMax LMS-UNI Uni-Max Rail Mount Laser, a.k.a. El Cheapo red laser.

That's too bad they're out of stock. Have you tried checking out, or better yet, calling Alamo Tactical? I saw both the Magpul UBR and the VLTOR VIS with pictures of the latter to boot!

2 Noveskes, and at least 4 LMTs?! You have a higher weapons procurement budget than Ghana! I really like the N4 low-pro Carbine Jeff. How does that UBR balance it out? Do you like it better than the SOPMOD?

-The UBR balances well on guns with 14.5" or longer barrels with a longer rail system (ie. 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, 13.2, etc)
-Do I like the UBR more than the SOPMOD? I like certain stocks on certain guns.
Here is something I wrote a few months ago, when asked about different stocks:
Comparing a Magpul CTR stock to a Magpul UBR stock is like comparing a compact economy car to a full sized truck. Yes they both have 4 wheels and an engine, but that is where the liknesses end.
The CTR and the UBR have different missions, just like a compact economy car and a full sized truck have different missions.
The UBR may not feel at home on a short, light carbine or SBR with a short rail system / handguard. And the CTR may not feel at home on a 16" carbine with a 12.0 rail system or a 20" rifle........but the CTR would balance out the short guns, and the UBR would feel at home on the 16" carbine w/ 12.0 rail system or 20" rifle.
Something I have learned about AR's over the years is, it's a game of matching the right part with the right gun. You may try a stock on a 10.5" SBR and hate it, and then try the same stock on a 16" mid-length carbine and fall in love with it.

There are some accessories that I like across the board on all AR's, there are other accessories that I may like on a 11.5" SBR but not like on a 16" Mid-Length or a 20" Rifle.
Stocks can:
1) help balance out a rifle
2) or if the stock too big or heavy can dominate the gun
3) and if it's too small or too light can make the gun feel muzzle heavy
After trying several different configurations over the year, at the current time I have found that I like Magpul CTR's on SBR's and some 14.5" M4's, but I don't like Mapgul CTR's on 16" barreled mid-lengths or 14.5" guns with longer rail systems (9.0 - 13.2). The Magpul CTR is a light weight stock and doesn't balance out a front heavy carbine well.
-SOPMODs (for me) fit perfectly on a 14.5" M4, but can also balance most SBR's and mid-lengths out fairly well.
-Vltor EMods and Magpul UBRs balance out 16" Mid-Lenghts and most 18" gun with rifle length gas tubes quite well.
As a general rule *I* run:
-Magpul CTR's on SBR's (short barreled rifle) and some 14.5" M4's (with carbine length (7.0) rail system or standard carbine handguards)
-LMT SOPMOD stocks on 14.5" M4's and SBR's with long rail systems

Jeff, those are some really nice setups and the stock explanations really make a lot of sense. Now it is time for me to get up off my ass and get me a N4 light carbine setup. BTW, anyone have the N4 light low profile setup with the DD Omega rail and Troy F and R buis?

I spoke with VLTOR today, asking if they ever planned on putting Quick Detach Swivel "Cups" on their VIS upper rails anytime in the near future.
Their reply to me was "we already are machining *QDS* holes on our VIS rails currently". (I THINK "QDS" stands for "Quick Detach Swivel")
I told them that on almost every site I've ever seen, I don't see the holes in the rails, but I DID see a set of THREE TOTAL holes on the 12" VIS 3 rail on the VLTOR site.
However, the holes look exactly like the holes in a KAC URX rail, and they are MUCH MUCH SMALLER than the holes on the Noveske/SWS rails, LMT MRP rails, or the Larue rails I think.
Are there indeed swivel cup holes on a VLTOR VIS rail? Are they machined into ALL four sizes of the VIS? (7", 9", 10", 12")???? Again, I have never seen these pictured before.
IF those much smaller holes that I saw on the 12" VIS, are indeed swivel cup holes, then WHY don't they work with the standard VLTOR QD Sling Swivels?
I need to get to the bottom of this.

On another note, can anyone here mic the bbl on the N4 light, and tell me what kind of dimensions (dia) we're talking here?
I'm currently about to send off a bbl to Adco, to have them turn it down and I would like to know what John used on the N4 bbls?
I have heard the bbl is tapered under the handguards, and I'm assuming it's parallel out in front of the GB.
Could someone mic the bbl out in front of the GB (and behind the GB IF POSSIBLE), and let me know the dia?

Excellent info Jeff. I just finished building a middy with DD 12.0 FSP rail, right now I have CTR on it but I find it a little too muzzle heavy I'm going to try URB next.

Of the VERY FEW VIS Pics I've seen on a RECCE, EVERYONE was using dang Magpul ladder panels, and I would REALLY like to see some TD Rail Panels on the 10" VIS! I'm starting to wonder if the TD rail panels even work on a VIS??? I just can't believe I've NEVER seen any of the TD panels on a 10" VIS/N4???
Can ANYONE here help with some decent pics help out???

I have an N4 Reece with VIS, but I have no rail panels or ladder panels installed. What I can tell you is that the rails have no QD attachment points. I had to get the add-on one from Daniel Defense.

Paul I have a N4 RECCE wit a 9" VIS and FSB. TD rail panels will fit but they are not as tight on the VIS as my Troy or Larue rails.

Anyhow, what's the deal with the white text lettering on the Noveske lower you have pic'd? I've seen it on only a very few Noveske lowers, and I wonder why only a few? Is that something Noveske USED to do previously, or is that something he has recently STARTED doing?
I always think it looks good. Not sure why, but I just like the white lettering myself.

Here is mine shortly after I got it home. I have since added a sling & moved the Aimpint flush with the rail.

Not really sure actually. I'll take a closer look when I get home, but as you said they're probably accessory mount points of some kind. They are not standard QD sling mounts.

The LMT lowers fit the Noveske uppers just fine. As far as color match they look the same black color to me. Feed ramps are in spec and look fine. I didnt have one issue with the N4 builds. But when I got the Recon Coated in FDE the guy had to order a tool to remove the barrel from the VTLOR VIS upper. No big deal.
I think its a win win situation that you are in. LMT vs. Noveske both make top quality firearms.

Yup! Kind of hard to lean over and take a picture with an arthritic lower back! No one needs to be traumatized by seeing my ugly feet! :D
Noveske N4 midlength 16" sent to ADCO to have the FSB shaved and put the DD FF rail from my old SPR on it.
ETA: Upper was purchased from Grant at G&R tactical...here on the board, check him out in the dealer forum

The upper came from Oregon with Switchblock, BUIS and 9" rail. Grant built the lower using a stripped Noveske lower, ambi selector, a Gisselle DMR trigger, Magpul MIAD and a CTR. Larue supplied the ACOG.

No real reason. I have been buying lowers and then putting uppers on them. I cant really comment on the LMT trigger vs. Noveske. I started with stripped Noveske Lowers and CMT Parts kits.

Here is my N4 Lo Profile, which I am so glad I got when the getting was good because now if you can find this rifle the price will be through the roof. Noveske is not even taking orders on this rifle as of the other night when I checked their site.
Recently added, but not pictured: Tirjicon front site, PRI "Combat" latch fo rthe charging handle and a Redi Mag II with the BCE.
Still want the BCE that Travis Haley uses but that'll have to wait I guess.

That Noveske IS sweet. I do think it looked so much better with that SWS rail though. I just can't get around to liking that Larue "donut" ring...
When Larue makes a rail without it, I think we will finally be in for a winner... JMHO of course! Either way, that carbine looks good my friend!

Yup, it's a TAD Gear Explorer jacket in ME Brown. Check 'em out here (http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gear/apparel%20main/outerwear.htm). TAD makes some excellent stuff--soft shells, hard shells, fleece jackets, wool sweaters, pants, etc. In fact, the cargo pants I'm wearing are also from TAD Gear. The pants have slots on the interior of the cargo pockets that fit rifle and pistol mags perfectly. Words can't really express the entirety of TAD Gear's awesomeness.

Haha, yea, about that holster... It's not so much the holster as the particular belt I'm waiting on... But hey--those front pockets worked great! :)
But thanks--I really like her. Yup, a POF gen III lower. I love the ambi bolt release, because as you can see I shoot rifles left handed. I don't have the AAC SPR suppressor yet--I actually built that rifle while I was living in California. Now that I'm back in a free state the Suppressor is on the list.

Stick gets all of the cool toys first; if you watch what he's doing very, very carefully, sometimes you can glean a bit of intel on where certains things are headed.
On the other hand, his OPSEC is pretty solid, so if you have managed to glean anything, the chances are pretty good that a carefully "controlled leak" was being sanctioned in the first place.

Hello All,
Here is my Noveske N4 LP Switchblock, and the rest of the family (DPMS LR-308T, Kimber Tactical, Glock 22). Got it on 3 Nov 08 Right before the rush, I had an order in for the regular Low Profile but upgraded to the Switchblock when I found out that there were actually shipping.
This may be my first post, so I apologize for any etiquette mistakes. I usually hang out on TOS, but I don't like posting pics there b/c you must upload all pics to a web server. I have a few more pics but I'll try to start simple.

Only complete rifles sold by Noveske has it. If you get a random upper & random lower, it won't have it.

Don't get your hopes up just yet.
Around the first of the year or so, John changed the way he processes orders from a "First In, First Out" process to a batch process. They now run barrels in batches of like sizes and configurations.
At the time, I had an 18" SPR barrel ordered.
That order was placed after and filled before some of the other orders in this thread. But it also happened to be a popular configuration in the order queue, which I'm assuming is why it got built when it did. Had it been a 10.5" with a SwitchBlock, I think I'd still be waiting for it.
So yours may or may not be coming up soon for manufacture.
With that said, the final product is definitely worth the wait.

stipilot, it's a Surefire FH556-212A (http://www.surefire.com/FH556-212A-Flash-HiderAdapter). When I purchased the 14.5" N4 basic upper from Noveske it was one of the offerings for perm attachment (not sure if they still carry it).

This build is lookin RIGHT. What length bbl and VLTOR VIS rail is that? Is that VLTORS longest VIS (12"-ish?), or midlength VIS (10"? I think?)
Does the VLTOR GB stick out the front of the VIS, or is it sitting FLUSH, completely inside/under the VIS rail? Hard to tell from the pic.

Yea I put it together. I don't think John puts the cross symbol half on the upper and half on the lower anymore. I may be wrong.

Its a 14.5 barrel and I believe the rail is a 10.0. The gas block is about a 1/2 recessed inside the rail.

Yea purchased everything separatley. I like the DD lite rail alot. I think the Mid length rails are the way to go IMHO.

No one stocks Noveskes in my area. Do they put the laser-etched iron cross in different locations on each complete rifle across the upper and lower or are they all in the same place? Seems like moving it around would be pretty unique.

How did he react to that? You should have told him he was an oxygen thief adn asked him to play in traffic. Seriously though, why would someone bother to call law enforcement to complain about getting robbed during an illegal transaction? I guess former Sergeant Major of the Army Leon Van Autreve was correct when he said that stupidity is a self inflicted wound.

All "Infidel" refers to is a 13.7" midlength barrel that is designed to be 16.1" OAL with a Noveske KX3 pinned to it.

The only factory complete Infidel uppers I have seen were built with a VIS upper. Haven't seen them in stock for a long time.
