Let me preface this review by saying I have no affiliation with Snakeeater Tactical nor do I receive "kickbacks" of any kind, just a normal guy that is impressed with a product.

Recently I began my search for a replacement edc belt. I wanted something that was strong, rigid, made in America and high quality. I decided to go with a riggers belt this time around.

I searched all the major manufacturers to see what they had to offer. I looked at offerings from Griffon, SOE, Jones Tactical, Ares and a few others when I came across SnakeEater Tactical.

S.E.T. has a few different variations of belts they offer as well as custom cobra riggers belt's built to your liking. All of S.E.T's belts utilize the AustriAlpin Cobra quick release buckle.

The AustriAlpin buckle is the benchmark by which all others are judged. From AustriAlpin's website- "All COBRA products are tested and certified by highly respected independent /3rd party test houses and exceed Mil Spec guidelines for dust / sand / salt water as well as all applicable CE, EN, CSA, ANSI, and NFPA standards for fall-protection and personal safety".

Personally I'll never use the buckle to its full capabilities but its nice to know if I ever need to use my belt as a tow strap or to zip line from the backyard onto my deck the buckle won't fail.

Onto the belt itself. I looked through the options on S.E.T's website and decided on the Diamondback cobra riggers belt. On this particular belt they add a diamond patterned stitch to it, further increasing its rigidity.

The very first thing I noticed was the attention to detail. Every single stitch is perfect and symmetrical. No loose stitching anywhere on the belt. The diamond stitching is perfect all the way around, both front and back.

The next thing thats immediately apparent is the rigidity of the belt. Holding it in the center allows the belt to unfold into a horizontal strap of nylon awesomeness. The belt is not flaccid at all. There is zero folding over of the belt as well. With my holster attached the belt did not bend or flex outward what so ever.

For such a rigid belt it's surprisingly comfortable. Wearing it either by itself or with my Glock 21 equipped with Surefire X300 for extended periods of time was a breeze. It remained comfortable throughout the day and never moved around, loosened or needed readjusting.

Earlier I spoke about the strength and durability of the buckle, if the belt itself isn't on par with the buckle then what's the point. It would be worthless to have it be flaccid or weak in anyway. Here are the specs listed on S.E.T'S website-

Two layers of Type 13 Resin Treated parachute webbing. Width is 1.75?.
Austriaplin Cobra Buckle
4? adjustment range. 1? down and 3? up from the size ordered.
Short tail doesn’t interfere with pistol holsters. Hook and Loop tape to hold excess tail down.
Colors available: Black web with Black buckle, Coyote Brown web with Coyote buckle, Ranger Green web with Coyote Buckle.
Five rows of stitching down the length of the belt, sewn in the same color as the webbing.
Lifetime warranty.
Signature Diamondback stitch pattern. Black and Ranger Belts have Coyote Diamond stitch. The Coyote belt has Black Diamond stitch.
Here's a link to a YouTube video showcasing the pull strength of the belt which was tested at the Mexico State University engineering lab-

The belt failed at 5000 lbs. Specifically the AustriAlpin buckle failed at 5K. The buckle itself is rated for 18KN or 4000 lbs. Failing at 5K lbs gave it a 1000 lb margin over what is rated for. The belt itself did not fail during the test.

You may have noticed in the specs the belt is 1.75", and so did I. That was a problem for me as all my holsters and spare magazine carriers are designed for a 1.5" belt. I quickly fired off an email to S.E.T to see what could be done. Within an hour Chris, the owner of S.E.T, sent me a reply saying it would be no problem at all to make the same belt, but at a 1.5" width instead of the 1.75". He made my belt out of 1.5" scuba webbing which is stiffer than the 1.75" type 13. I also asked the stitching be coyote to match the belt itself, and again he was happy to help. He was very friendly and courteous in his replies and I could tell he took great pride in his products, he wasn't just peddling another belt on the market.

Overall I'm 110% satisfied with my purchase and at $64.95 it's an absolute steal. Not only did I get a belt of the utmost quality, but the owner himself replied to my concerns and adjusted his product to better fit my needs.

Hope this helps anyone who's in the market for a fantastic piece of kit, and a company who's top notch!
