FEDERAL Aluminum cased ammo...when?!

Just saw, and picked up 150 rounds of Federal 230gr 45ACP ALUMINUM ammo. When did this hit the scene? Anyone shot this yet? Was significantly cheaper per box than brass cased, by about $8-$10 depending on where you get buy it.
Whats the word on this ammo?

How much a box? Been seeing brass cased ball in 45 pop up bout 17 a box lately.

As far as blazer goes. Never had an issue with it.

I got this at Walmart for $14.87 a box. Brass cased at WM & lgs is about $22-$23 a box here. Yes, I love Blazer ammo and have shot the hell out if it for many years. I just didn't know Federal made an equivalent.

Yes, along with Speer.

ATK = Federal, Speer, CCI, others. There have been a number of odd configurations (remember Blazer gold dots?) and cross pollinations. There are also items that aren't in the catalog that make it into retail circulation.

I've shot a case of the aluminum cased Federal Champion 9mm 115gr FMJ, p/n CAL9115. It's an FC headstamp on an aluminum case. Ran fine. Walmart has had it on doorbusters at $9/bx or so.

I see this stuff in 9mm at my local WMs. Finally seems that 9mm stays in stock now.

Not too bad a box, honestly would likely find myself paying the couple extra dollars for bass cased .45, but that is only because I can find it for $17-18 a box and I just picked up a reloader so....

On an odd note though, so it can't be said that I am throwing none brass cased .45 under the bus, I have shot some pretty damn decent groups with .45acp Wolf over the years.

I shot 100 rounds of the aluminum last week without any issues.

Don't feel so bad not picking the brass up.

Worked fine in my Model 19.

Did you just jump to 2014 in a time-machine? Locally 9mm is more than that a box of 50, though seeing it online at about $11-12 when I look and try.

I just yesterday saw 100rnd WWB marked down from I think $43 & change to the new price of $39.95, at WM. Ive been seeing across the board reductions on 9mm, 45acp, 7.62X39 and some real good prices on 5.56 lately. Never seen so much ammo at WM's lately too.

It is $11 a box of 50. Box of 50 is the only size box I've seen the alum come in.

Picked up a box of 50 9mm at my local range for $13 to give it a try. Shot and felt very similar to Blazer 9mm. If/when I can find some bulk deals this might become my range ammo (hate policing brass).
