The M2 with LaRue mount it is replacing is 12.40 ounces... the T-1 with LaRue mount is 5.70 ounces... Yea over half the weight... I would say that is a good thing.

Mark the date down... 20 June 08... the day the battery went in.... see ya in 5 years...

I don't know why this is the first time I've noticed this, but any idea why Larue has the latch on the opposite side?

I wondered the same thing.... I thought about mounting it on the other side, but then the tip of the latch is facing the barrel end and may snag on gear, etc.

It's a good question....

My guess is this, the standard 3x mount and the PVS 14 mounts have the latch on the left side of the rifle, the T1 is on the right. As small as the T1 is, if you put the 3x or PVS 14 right up on the T1 you might have problems with the levers touching, or not opening all the way. The T1 locked onto the rail will have the lever facing the rear, and attacking the 3x or PVS 14 mount will have the lever facing forward. That may pose a problem. The 3x Pivot mount has the lever on the right side, but the lever is positioned a little further back than the others. That is all I can figure from looking at the mounts on Larue's site.

Looks great! Now you just have to change out that ARMS BUIS for a Troy:D

Just sold my E552 to my co-worker and ordered a T1 setup from Larue also. Can't wait to put it on and sight that baby in. A Troy rear Buis will be next on the list. Congrats.

Have you tried it forward facing yet to determine if its an issue? I am currently testing the new
Bobro CompM4 mount and configured the lever forward facing for just this purpose. Absolutely
zero hang ups. If you prefer your lever on the other side, it would definitely be worth trying out.

On a side note, how are the slings holding up? ;)

Rob,
Pure Educated Wild A$$ Guess (EWAG), plus I don't speak for Mark Larue, but the lever on the right side of the mount helps eliminate the potential issue of the lever getting caught on the molle web gear of 90% of military/LE users, ie. right handed shooters. The older mounts with levers being on the left side of the reciever some times generated complaints from military users about it getting caught on the molle webbing. I have not experienced this problem and I think it is more perception than reality, but moving the lever does provide an answer to that concern.
