Ok here it goes.......Do buffer weights NEED to be loose and rattle in the buffer or can I put in an extra rubber whatchamacallit in between them? If so what can potentially happen if I do such thing? I know I'm splitting hairs with this bullshit, however I kind off been wondering about this for some time now. Thanks in advance.

Leave your buffer alone. Its designed that way for a reason unless we are talking about the A5 which has a spring inside.

Oh believe me I was not really screwing with it. I had one apart and had this doubt. Thanks for the quick response Gunz.

Buffers with freely moving weights inside are there by design, and are used to tame bolt bounce (technically the carrier). Right about the time the carrier wants to bounce back after the bolt seats, the weights in the buffer shift and counter the rearward carrier movement.

For what it's worth, my LMT MWS came with an H3 that has free weights inside, the noise drives me nuts too, but it is what it is.

That makes perfect sense. So when the bolt and buffer seat completely on the forward position the weights being "loose" haven't actually made it there yet because they are "trailing behind" inside the buffer and when the carrier starts to "bounce" back from the barrel ext, that's when the buffer weights "make it there" just in time to prevent the carrier bounce.
Good Lord. Eugene Stoner was a smart MF.

.
It rattles because basically it is a dead-blow hammer that makes sure the bolt is in position.
