I won't lie. This looks awesome.

And the classic Disney movie tie-in is mildly creepifying.

Some highlights: Ironman's "Hulkbuster" armor, Captain America's broken shield, Joburg police with Vektor R5s, Dishkas with Hydra-esque energy weapons, a new Quinjet, and Andy Serkis not in green suit.

Ultron. Stark's attempt at an autonomous, robotic global peacekeeping force - so he can hang up the power armor and the world cannot be threatened by a human agency infiltrated by those who mean to rule, rather than serve humanity, like SHIELD. Except Ultron goes all Skynet and decides that humanity is the problem and he decides to do a hard reset on sentient life on earth.

Or so the plot synopsis reads.

The only complaint I personally have is I feel that the fact they are making Ultron more human looking and even to the point where his mouth moves looks cheesy.

Just because you can do it with CGI doesn't mean it should be done....

ETA: Possible spoilers ahead....

So what we know.

1- Ultron is 40% vibranium/adamantium.*
2- Captain America's shield is vibranium/adamantium.
3- Andy Serkis looks like Ulysses Klaw, a man who hoards and peddles vibranium/adamantium.
4- The largest deposits of vibranium/adamantium on earth are in the fictional African nation of Wakanda (which will be interesting to see, since it usually looks like what people whose only idea of what Africa looks like comes from, well, Zulu, while modern audiences are more familiar with Somalia (Black Hawk Down), Joburg (District 9) and South Africa in general (Safe House), and Sierra Leone (Blood Diamond).
5- A good deal of the action appears to occur in South Africa and Joburg in particular, making it a logical place for Ultron to have had the vibranium/adamantium treatment, given the aforementioned Klaw and Wakanda.

Which means....

Maybe we'll get to see Black Panther. Which would be cool.

* Futurama reference.

Interesting.

I didn't even know what Ultron was. Pretty sad to see Capt America's shield destroyed though, although i'm sure if they have a source for the materials they can build him another.

Who is the chick screaming towards the end of the preview?

MountainRaven

Scarlet Witch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet_Witch). She's in a couple other shots of the trailer. And she was the one playing with the wooden cubes at the end of Cap2.

An interesting tid-bit: Scarlet Witch - and her fraternal twin brother, Quicksilver (the dude with the white, spiky hair) - are nominally Magneto's children. Of course, Marvel Studios can't use any of the X-Men or the term 'mutant', so... yeah....

With the shot of the shattered shield, and the fact that they have already introduced Bucky AND confirmed Cap 3, there are going to be some interesting choices made in AoU that may shake up the universe.

I believe that RDJ is signed for Cap3, too. So "shake up the universe" might be putting it... mildly.

I had read somewhere about the possibility of the "Civil War" series coming to Marvel cinema, not THAT would be epic!

The trailer looks good. I'm just curious though how a robot can even remotely be a threat to the Hulk (though he seems to be a little... out of his norm when compared to how he was at the end of the Avengers before [less self control]), or even Thor.

As I understand it, the plan for Cap3 is to keep the same tone as Cap2. With the Civil War as the basis for the plot. Hence RDJ being signed on to reprise Tony Stark/Iron Man in Cap3. Odds are that Cap and Tony (and the other Avengers) have a huge falling out in Avengers 2.

Not just one robot, but many. And one of whom is made from adamantium (he's 40% adamantium!) - the same material that Cap's shield is made from, that Wolverine's claws and skeleton are coated in, and the supervillain/-hero holding cell is made from on the Bus in Agents of SHIELD (the giant, modified C-17 they fly around in). For all practical intents and purposes, an invincible super metal. This is on top of its access to Stark's anti-Hulk contingency plans (you don't build Hulkbuster armor if you're not worried about fighting the Hulk) and all of SHIELD's files on the same that were dumped on the web by Fury and Widow at the end of Cap2... To say nothing of the intellectual capabilities of Ultron itself.

Probably not. Marvel has really been knocking these movies outta the park lately so it will probably do pretty well even though he isn't a really big character.

It is also my understanding that Benedict Cumberbatch is supposed to play Dr. Strange.

Again, she. But yeah, the worst Marvel Studios movie so far has been Iron Man 2. Which was still better than pretty much everything else coming from a Marvel property (Amazing Spiderman series, X-Men). And better than pretty much every non-Batman DC property since... I'unno, Superman II.
