I must say...

I am VERY impressed with the people at the ATF! There is something positive going on at the WV NFA branch, my Form 4 was processed in 15 working days!!!

Check Cashed: 8/29

Approved: 9/18

IN HANDS 9/25!!!

The forms were sent a few days prior of cashing, but that really does not matter...

This was an individual suppressor transfer, but this is my 3rd Form 4 and I have a Form 1, maybe because I have paperwork on the books to speed things up?

I see this as a serious problem... I am an NFA crackhead and I have a .45 can in my sights...

I'll tell you, if you want to add a suppressor to your collection of goodies, NOW is the time! Turnarounds are QUICK! My last one was 33 days and I thought that was fast....

Pics will soon follow... Im just waiting for the forms to get to my dealer!!!

Guy at the local club said that his turn around was 22 days. It appears that the ATF is speeding things up a bit.

I mailed mine out on August 24th and it came back approved September 18th. That's mailbox to mailbox.

I went with a Trust.

Mailed 8/23 and approved 9/19. Not in hand yet...

Mine's a trust, and it was a Form 4 for an SBR.

Mine was individual, I was going to go Trust, but my CLEO has no problems with Class 3!

Looks like Suicide and I mailed about the same time!

I sent mine out Sept 4th (my b-day and a gift to myself ;) ), so hopefully it'll be here soon. This is my first NFA item (SBR), so I'm kinda expecting it to take a little while longer.

Were any of these quick turn-arounds for first timers?

Mine was approved in 16 days. First time for me. Form 4, Trust. My Form 1 was sent the same day (8-21) and the check has been cashed but I haven't seen anything yet.

My last one wasn't my first, but my first one took about the same amount of time. It got held up a bit because they lost (or I forgot to send) my trust paperwork. If I remember correctly I got my notice that I needed to send it in about a month after I sent the original form and check. I can only assume that if they had the paperwork that they needed at that time I would have gotten the approval.

Wow, that is impressive. My form-4's came back in 33 days and I was doing handstands I was so happy. It took NFA Branch one year 10 months to get back to me. I called and called inquiring about an item I applied for... and when they finally got back to me they said I needed to re-apply with the new forms. Sometime from the time I sent the forms in, to the time they got back to me...there had been a change in the forms. Nice...

Anyway, glad to hear they are turning things around now quickly.

Buy up now guys...

Wow!

This one came back! I know its only been about a momth, but I got ANOTHER CAN last week!.

Its the YHM .556/223.

Awesome. Not too much louder than the m42k and cheaper!

For those VA folks: GO to the Armory, MARIE will hook you up. A nicely priced can and HEARING safe!

The ATF is turning its wheels!

I don't know if this is a record but it might be.

I transfered a suppressor to an individual (not a trust) and the form 4 only took 7 business days to approve and get back to me. Hell, the form 3 transfer took longer then that!

That's right, 7 business days, from the time the ATF received it until I got it in the mail.

How well do you know the dealer? I often suspect that the dealers don't do things when and as quickly as they say they do.

not very well. But he is on subguns list of "reputable dealers".

I don't think it's malicious or criminal or anything, I just don't think they're as excited as we are since they have no personal stock in receiving it.

David, first your using the wrong dealer, IMHO. ;)

Second, my form 3's are running about 15 - 30 days on average, something that should only really take a few days, but that's another story.

Form 4's out to customers are going 30 - 90 days on average, with the one at 7 days being an outlier.

I used Harlan because he had the M42k in stock and I gotta spread the love around anyway. :)
When it comes time to buy my 9mm upper and suppressor, you know where Ill be going ;)

Forgot to update earlier...

13 days from door to door form my Form 4, transferred to a trust. My first form 4, but I had a form 1 previous to that, so my trust was already processed before.

35 calendar days from when the 2 Form 4s (SBR & Suppressor) went into the mail box to BATF&E, to when I got the call from my FFL/SOT (2 days ago) that the Forms were back with the Stamps and items ready to be picked up. These were regular submissions (CLEO signoffs, fingereprints, etc.), not Trust or LLC.

Edited to add: P.S., if you ever need a good FFL/SOT in Nrothern VA for an NFA transfer, call Farrokh at Innovative Tactical Solutions. Great experience from start to finish -- would use him again in a heartbeat (and surely will . . . )

Mailbox to mailbox Dec 4 to January 19. Considering the holidays falling in there not too shabby.

Individual, not trust or corp

SuicideHz

Yes. I am 99% sure you must but you may not have to.

I am SBRing my lower now and I will fill out a citizenship form. Thanks for reminding me. I forgot about that part. I was hoping to have it all done this weekend.

Yes. Just one per NFA.

davidp14

OK so I need my form 4 and 1 cert. of compliance per NFA, and cert. of trust. Im using a trust so that all I need to send, right?

I didn't. I have three transfers on my trust in the last year. I just fill out the form 4 and include a copy of my trust.
