Do any of you have any experience with Charter Arms revolvers?

The older CA were good stuff. They were good for the money, but not a S&W. I have an Off Duty made in 1983 or 1984. If only worth about $200 but it's a good BUG. The CA that is in business today is kinda junky if you ask me.

Cute lol I didn't think about that. My gun is an Off Duty .38 spl. It's identical to the one on the cover of "In The Gravest Extreme" by Ayoob.

The older ones were decent light duty BUG's, then they went through a period where they produced alot of crap, I can't comment on current production.

I looked into them when I was deciding on a snubnose purchase. They are not on the same level as S&W. They're heavy, rough, and the triggers I tested were not good.

On the other hand, if you want a (relatively) small .44 Special, Charter Arms is the only game in town. AFAIK, no other manufacturer offers a .44 Special under 4".

I was interested in them for the left handed offerings, but my father voiced concerns about questionable quality. So I am forced to "lug" around my G19.

Not that it's in the same (cheap) price range as the Charter, but the S&W Model 396 Night Guard (http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=67971&langId=-1&isFirearm=Y) has 2.5" barrel.

Good find, Rob! I was unaware that S&W had brought out that Night Guard line. Very interesting - the weight is only 1 - 2 oz more than a Model 60 J-frame. Probably still too big for pocket or ankle carry, though.
