Hey guys,

I just received a 16" SS barrel I ordered. A quick look down the tube revealed a big burr at the gas port location. This was a first for me, so I dis some searching. Turns out people are recommending just shooting it out.

My question is in regards to barrel damage and what exactly happens to the burr when shot? I am just imaging the burr gouging the barrel from the gas port on.

I took the best shots I could with my phone. Thanks

I'd return it

Who made the barrel?

Contact the barrel manufacturer. Just last week I built an upper around a Noveske barrel with a burr like this and it didn't hurt anything.

Have you ran anything down the barrel? I recently got a barrel with what appeared to be a burr. I just swabbed it and it was gone. Its been test fired since then and shoots great

Run a tight fitting patch down the bore and drag it off. I've seen and shot thousands. The burr is gone with the first shot.

Ether contact mfg. Depending on how much the barrel cost and intended use. Otherwise l would probably just rod the barrel knock it off and out of barrel, run patches. I've got a barrel or 2 in past that have had a bur stuck in side that just fell out after hitting with cleaning rod..... not any premium barrels though.

Shoot it. Burr will be gone before finishing the first mag

Don't bother the manufacturer with this nonsense.
