I am building my first AR and I have been referred to Geissele for my trigger. I went on the website and found several different triggers at various prices. Do any if you know of one that particularly stands out as better than the others? Also what are the pros and cons of a single stage trigger vs a two stage trigger?

Search is your friend young grasshopper. This has been covered extensively.

Try a a nice 2-stage like a Geissele and you will never like single stage again. The SSA is the most popular.

This will help show you the differences:

What is the intended purpose/mission for the gun you're installing it in? Also, what's your budget for a trigger?

Well which one

the info is in the video above, it depends on what you will be using the rifle to do.

Okay, I'm going to oversimplify. Get an SSA.

And that's an overall good trigger for combat and long distance precision shooting?

Roger that. It's a do-all trigger. Install it per the instructions and USE THE GREASE that Geissele provides in the vial and it will blow your mind.

Last question. Do you know if any good lower parts kit without the trigger? I want something that will function nicely but won't be so expensive

G&R tactical has colt kits without a trigger. And WITH an SSA. ;)

Bill Geissele made an excellent video that you can find on youtube (search "Bill Geissele triggers" or something along those lines). He gives a short history of the company, and explains how each trigger feels, and what it's intended use is. Well worth the 20 minutes or so it takes to watch.

ALG QMS is pretty good for HD/self-defense.

These guys are all helping you out, but help yourself and use the forum's search function. It has all been covered extensively, and you'll get answers faster.

I prefer it, but it's not necessary. It's like going from an econo car to a Ferrari. There are small differences between the Ferraris, but those differences are small in comparison.

Save your money and stick with the SSA or even the G2S if it's available. They feel the same.

Damn! That's what happens when you just peruse the other replies instead of actually reading them I guess.
