20% off all gun prices at WalMart.
That brings it down to $800 and some change.

I don't think any of my local walmarts carry guns

It might be worth a drive @ that price.
I need another AR like I need a hole in my head, so it looks like I will be getting one anyway.
Worse comes to worse I can get my money back when Hillary gets elected.

anyone in ATL area know where they sell 6920s (at Wallys)?

I don't know how many more of these things I need. I had always wanted an LE6920 so I bought one a couple of years ago for north of 1,200 bucks. Then I told myself that I would pick up another one if the ever dropped below a grand. So, I recently nabbed another. Now, I'm thinking of grabbing yet another one due to the fact that I can't imagine them getting any cheaper.
Now is the time for anybody on the fence. I never thought I would see Colt LE6920's priced this low.

I do have an anti walmart bias....but

they are often available online for $850 (no sales tax and ffl transfer for $25 if you look around)

they will likely be $800 online between now and xmas

I think the Colts in my area (VA Beach, VA) are going for $1068. So minus the 20% and add the 6% tax it takes it to $905.66 which doesn't make it good deal I think. I'll have to double check the price now that I've seen this thread. I'd definitely pick one up if it's closer to $800.

Recently purchased a 6720 from PSA for 799, after shipping and transfer I was at 841$. 6720 lw barrel profile is also my preference over the 6920. I've built seven ARs but never bought a complete factory one new, so this was exciting for me. If I was ever going to do it now seemed the time.

What do these 6920 come with as far as buis and mag? My 6720 was magpul mbus and 20 end pmag, I assume this added to the low price.

The last two LE6920's I've bought came with Magpul backup rear sight and a 30 round PMag. The first one I bought had a gen 3 and the latest came with a gen 2.

Remember you can go in there today and lay away your rifle and pay for it on Black Friday without fighting the crowds.

Good deal on a 6920, but the sales tax kills it in Texas. They want 1,097 for the 6920 here and after discount then sales tax you are at 950.00. Not bad, but it can be found cheaper online.

I stopped in Walmart yesterday to see what the price was and they had them marked $1097.

20% off plus tax and I would be at like $937.....

Even if I could stand to walk into a WalMex, a 6920 makes no sense to me even at 800 bucks. The gov profile isn't appealing, the 16" carbine gas isn't appealing, I'd really prefer an A5 buffer system... so???

If I was just getting starting in the AR realm, it'd be a nice deal, but the 6920 would just take up space for me.

To me I would take the upper off and cut it to 10.3 inches (for a different lower) and put a bcm 14.5 (pinned) midlength upper on the lower.

That's not a bad idea. The Carbine buffer system is a good mate to a 14.5 BCM middy for sure.

I'm with markm, although a good deal for a first gun, a 16" carbine gas serves no real purpose for me.

For the people saying to buy one and stash it for the next election, sure you could do that, but I think you'd see a higher overall margin if you spend the $800 on mags and bcg's instead of one rifle. Not to mention, mags and parts simply go in a box and get shipped cheaply. No hassle with FFL, declaring the item, insurance etc.

Same here, $1097 for a 6920. They also got rid of the Rogers stock (which I liked) and now comes with a basic M4 stock (which I hate).

Not much of a deal for when its still $900+, when you can build a similar AR for much less. Buying multiple receivers and BCG's is probably a better investment...

I do agree with those who say that mags and such would be the better overall profit maker for those wanting to invest for any future bans or whatnot. Still, I can hardly see where a Colt LE6920 is a bad investment at reduced prices. I'll never understand why the AR community shifts so quickly to follow trends. A few years ago, you weren't a cool kid unless you had an LE6920. Once a few companies started offering quality rifles, the Colt bashing began. The fact is that just because BMW, Audi, and Lexus exist... Doesn't make my Mercedes less relevant.
I own a 16" middy that is built with very high quality parts. It is an excellent rifle that has been claimed by my wife as her own. I have no doubt that it is every bit the equal, if not superior in some ways, to my Colt. Yet, my LE6920 remains my go-to gun, and even in stock trim, is an excellent all around weapon. The fact that Colt carries with it the long military history/tradition, and is known to be built to the same standards as the rifles issued to our troops should be enough to justify its relevance among any fan of the AR. When you couple that with the fact that they are now sold with a simple M4 Carbine/Colt Defense roll mark, I think the LE6920 is still a top contender for anyone looking for a basic HD carbine of known quality and performance standards.
Personally, the only things I would change about the current generation of LE6920, is that I wish Colt would offer it with a pinned 14.5" barrel, and include a carry handle rather than the MBUS. Either way, I see no reason to talk down on the Colt. The BCM's, DD's, etc. are top shelf as well IMHO.

You're missing the point.

We're not downplaying Colt6920's. They're very good guns. The topic here is the price, which is not much of a "deal" if you consider that now you can get AR parts pretty cheap and build a comparable rifle with similar parts e.g. BCM, DD, etc.
