Gun shops in or near New Orleans to visit?

Going to spend a few days in New Orleans in the near future and was wondering if there are any nice, well-stocked gun shops?

Also, any areas to avoid?

Jefferson Gun in Metairie has a good gun selection but not so great customer service rep. If you have time to drive up to Hammond, Interstate Guns has a smaller selection of guns but all top notch stuff (DD, Nemo, HK, etc), as well as a good selection of quality gear, optics and accessories. And super awesome people there.

Areas to avoid...it's not nearly as bad as you'd think. There are some rougher areas but it's hard to pinpoint as it's block-by-block. Just don't go wandering around any dark alleys after midnight and you'll be fine.
