Sling with a1/a2 stocks

I have a 18" AR I'm putting together. It currently wears a magpul fixed rifle stock. I was able to pick up a colt "cs" stock locally for what I thought was a great price but before I install it I'd like to look at some sling options.


Also. What is considered a good price for a near mint colt cs stock. I've been looking for one for a while but haven't seen any so I just jumped on this one when I saw it available

If you can find one for less than $90-$100, you're doing well. They're not exactly common, but you can find them if you look hard enough.

I used the IWC QD cups for mine. You will have to drill into your stock, but works very well.

I personally prefer mounting my sling at the rear of the receiver, and I don't care for the sling wrapped around the end of the buttstock, so I added the Daniel Defense A2 Burnsed Loop to my M16A4 in Iraq (almost a decade ago now):

It inserts between the receiver and the buttstock and adds about 1/4" to the length, which isn't ideal, but with an A1 stock, that's not too bad. I prefer that tradeoff to be able to mount a sling at the front of the buttstock. But again, it's been a long time since I carried an M16.

I run a paracord creation that anchors to the sling loop, but puts an attachment knot up near the heel of the stock. I'm running the Israeli sling though...

Just kidding. I'm still deciding on what to do. I may save it for a future project. Or put it on my 18" rifle now. It may be a good reason to buy a colt 6920 or maybe even build a dissipator

I paid $100. And had to drive 20 minutes to get it. So I'm not too unhappy with the price.
