Gents,
PSA has this on sale for $9.99 per box of 20. This is cheapest Ive ever seen this ammo. I ordered 100 rounds for chrono & accuracy testing. They list this as 1007fps. I emailed them earlier this year and they told me this is correct, and within pressure limits. Ive been wanting to check this ammo out, so when I get it, and get to the range, Ill shoot it thru my Glock41 and see if I can borrow a 1911 and a couple other 45 pistols to check velocity.

FINALLY today got to check out this ammo. First, we pulled two rounds to check for weight. They were 231 and 232, so that took care of doubts that they were really 230 grain.
Then, chrono'ed out of my Glock 41 and a Taurus 1911.
First..10 rounds out of the Glock:
Low: 934
HIGH: 981
Average:958

Taurus 1911
FIVE rounds total.
Low:944
HIGH:984
Average:960
So, all in all the ammo fell about 50 fps or so short of the advertised velocity of 1007fps. Recoil was BRISK & SNAPPY. Very noticeable difference . Accuracy was really very good from the 10-15 yards out I shot offhand. 100% reliability also. Shot about 80 rounds total.
From what I saw today, NOT knowing how well, or bad, the JHP round performs in flesh, Id say this ammo is worth a look for those wanting a +P 45ACP 230gr. load. It is powerful ammo to say the least.

How were these most expensive? I don't understand. Anyway, ordered mine on 23NOV and they came today..very fast shipping. Will try to get to range to chrono this weekend hopefully, and will update.

Had I not bought the ammo, I would not have seen the colt for $799. So the 100 rounds cost me $850.... Just some humor SS.

I shot some a couple years ago, just got these today. (Maybe yesterday and just didn't see them until today)

I see why they were so cheap. These look like blems. I remembered them being almost sharp on the tip of the hollow point, these look like they were dropped on the concrete and them swirled around. Not very please with the cavity.

Some look ok, but most do not on the 2 boxes I opened.

How do yours look?

Went and dug them out of the safe to check just now. I checked 3 out of 5 boxes, all are very uniform, blunt across the top, not sharp. They all look the same. I noticed a odd looking U, or V shape on the primer itself...never seen that before. Wonder what that means?
I figure, if this ammo is reliable, AND going at the listed velocity, it ought to be a hell of a load, even IF the bullet expands or not. Im gonna try to really check them out soon. If they feed and are accurate, Ill keep a couple hundred on hand. That is a really good price PSA had. And getting them in 3 days was great.

Wow. Those are incredible velocities if the bullets indeed weight 230 grains.

Yessir...they sure did. But Hornady is claiming the same velocities on their +P 230 gr. too. IF it had been what MagTech claims...about 1007 or so, THAT would really be something. But, after yesterday Im not leery of it, it aint plinkin ammo for sure, but Ive got some left and might get a few more boxes just to have.

Howdy,

Thanks for the info!

At roughly 470 ft/lbs@960 ft/sec its a fairly hot load.

I would like to see how it performs in ballistic gelatin.

I plan to chrono some from my PM45 and my Mark 23 tomorrow. I am hoping to break the 1000fps mark with the 23.

PM45 3.24" barrel
5 shot string
High 925
Low 898
Average 904
ES 29
SD 11

Now for the Mark 23 5.87" barrel
7 shot string

Low 1045
Average 1053
ES 16
SD 5
On the 1056 it had a power factor of 242.880 and 569.452ft/lbs

I did have have one fail to feed with the Mark23. It cycled and stopped just before going into full battery. I could not pull the slide back to eject it. So I bumped it home and it fired just fine. It was the 1045 round.

The sky fell out and I went to help a friend work on a truck.

Went and shot some more of this today in the Mark 23. Had to bump at least 5 of the 20 home. I manually ejected 1 with a good bit of difficulty. Think all the burs from the hollow point are getting trapped between the case and chamber. Also experienced brass to face on the last round of every mag. Hit dead in the center of the forehead. Also shot some gold dots, xtp, federal, reloads, and some freedom ammunition reman. All the rest performed just fine. It has enough recoil to feel it in the wrist later on, even with the weight of the 23.
