View Full Version : Which ammo will do the trick in my 20" custom?

So I just ordered a new custom Bushmaster (I like them...mine all work fine) with a flat top v-match receiver, 20" 1/8 target crown heavy match barrel, free floated BMAS rail system, LMT bolt and carrier group (obviously bought that elsewhere), DCM lower with 2-stage trigger and ace skeleton stock (let me say, I haven't felt a more comfy stock- I have the entry version on my carbine).

So I'm wondering...my dealer doesn't stock a lot of different kinds of .223, but I can order whatever. What would be best out to say 300 yds for maximum accuracy?

He only has wolf, mil surplus, and privi partizan (not sure the grain, never looked- my 1/9 carbine couldn't shoot them).

Give the Wolf a try. Most people don't like it but a lot have never tried it either. My BM also has a LMT BCG and it runs fine with wolf.
Any of the mil surplus stuff should be good also.
I like to run S&B (Sellier & Bellot) ammo also. My AR is zeroed with it and I'm sure that it is more accurate then I'll ever be.

Black Hills is great ammo. I've seen some of their remanufactured stuff outperform factory new ammo from other companies. Try the heavier loads, in the 68-77 grain range.

I'd start with Federal 69 grain Match.
