View Full Version : any tips on cleaning X300 lens?
put 300+ rounds through my M&P yesterday and its coated very nicely.
i found the vaseline idea with a search(i'll be sure to use it in the future).
any idea on how to remove the diamond crust on there now?im affraid of using anything too harsh that could damage the lens.i let it soak in WS overnight and tried leaving it on for awhile to heat it up(didnt think it would help with carbon,i figured it was worth a try though)...tried scraping it off with plastic...:(
ive made some progress, but its very slow going...any shortcuts?
worked great,much appreciated!
Learned something new for me. Will have to remember that "eraser" technique.
Believe someone mentioned polishing it up prior with car wax would allow it to be wiped off nice and easy last class i was in.
yeah, the "vaseline idea" i mentioned was the same.
I use the Slip2000 725 cleaner/degreaser. Good stuff.

Erasers are also good at cleaning corrosion of elecrtical endings (for batteries/comm wires/comm ports).
I shoot WinClean when my light is attached- way better for not turning the light head black.

We used clean the contacts on the boards (computer video/sound cards). It did the "trick"!

I'm guessing that the first three (3) letters are in reference to Winchester and not that registry/disk cleaner. This is after all, a firearms forum. . .:p Will have to give that a try. Thanks!

Winclean costs a bit more- but if you are shooting with the light attached you will be happier...

Pencil eraser works nicely, but I generally will use toothpaste and a Q-tip. I never have pencil erasers at home, but I always have toothpaste.

Toothpaste does work well too. I just use a dab on my finger tip.

Great tips fellas.
Wow, i was just about to post up a topic about this.
Just went to go function check my TLR-1 and there was no light coming from it. I thought i had dead batteries until i checked the darn lens and realized it was completely BLACK.
Must have been a good range day. :)
