Looking for recommendations on a light / sling mounting solution for MOE handguards. I've found some older threads from 2011 and earlier, but don't want to miss some any recent/better options. Of note, lights will be Surefire X300U or Scout. The carbines are BCMs with the 6 o'clock mounted sling mounts, so not ideal for a Vickers or similar type sling unless there is a better side mount that won't interfere with the light. Don't want to upgrade to a rail as all I need/want are sling and light. Thanks for inputs.

I have a bcm midlength with a magpul rail light mount with a surefire g2x and a 10inch pistol with a magpul scout mount with a tlr1. Both with 2 point slings and I don't find that they get in the way of using the lights.

For my moe handguards I've used both the magpul scout mount and cantilever rail.

They both work great and you can own them both for under $20 combined.

With my irons only guns I prefer the scout mount and with optics I like the cantilever rail as the light is not in my picture.

Options are nice - i'd buy them both.

For the sling mount, I just put some paracord through the slots on the side and use a clash hook...

Pics for you - have a scout mount and cantilever rail both on my painted ar and just the cantilever mount on my shorty (my light is not all the way out bc the comp just beats on it). You can also see my super high tech sling mounts - they work exceptionally well:

I use a Magpul scout mount with a 300U on the right side (I'm a lefty), and the sling attachment at the back of the forend with a Vickers sling. It doesn't get in the way and works well for me.

Guys thanks. High Desert, I like the 550 cord idea. Looks like a good solution.

Here's one on a midlength:

Buy one of these:

As for a light, look at the SMC mount, also from IWC.

Thanks kdcgrohl. Looks like a good setup. Have you had any issues with the quick release inadvertently releasing? Thanks again.

Nope. Please note that I only use quality QDs. Mostly from BFG. Give it a good jerk after insertion, if it doesn't hit you in the face, you're good to go.

IWCs are worth the coin. Think through the installation and read the not so great instructions a few times before starting out.

For some reason I am craving a PBR and I don't know why. Lol.

IWC mounts for the Scout works quite well I have one and if I hadn't gone to a DD rail I would still be rocking it most likely. As far as sling mounts the recessed QD mount point would likely be one of the best if you are running QD, however if QD is not needed then the standard Magpul sling mount in the MOE handguard works well. Again, ran it for quite sometime before going to a quad rail.
