I love a stippled gun and have don it to most all of my long guns. I would love to do it to my 2 main carry guns, Glock19 & 27 but im afraid that the stippling will rub my side raw in hurry. I think I could just stipple the "front strap" and "back strap" but I would really like the entire gun done.

my current holster for the G19 is a Bravo Concelament with a full sweat guard and my G27 goes in a Crossbread or Galco ankle.

is there anyone out their that EDC's a full stippled polymer gun IWB?

Can't comment on your carry method, but for AIWB, stippled backstrap is a no-go.

Destroys cloths and destroys skin.

Not so much immediate pain but something that builds like a blister.

Depending on fabric type damage can start immediately.

how do people carry guns with that sandpaper crap on them than... that must do similar damage. well I guess I wont go overboard if I do it. I might do a few spots on the front strap and a few on the back and see if it causes ant trouble and go slow from there. if I don't like it I can always sand it down some like I did on some other things.

The short answer is it depends on how the stippling is done.

I stippled my PPQ such that the texture is fairly close to that found on the P30 and I experience zero discomfort.

If you were to put a texture like 20 grit sandpaper on your gun then I'd imagine it'd be pretty uncomfortable. The trick is to find a good balance between extra grip and not shredding your skin / clothes.

There is a stippling thread in the AR general discussion section that may give you a few ideas. I don't carry a stippled or sandpapered gun. But, I put Talon grips on an M&P. After I shredded two t-shirts dry firing, I sanded down the inside panel of the grip. Works like a champ.

I wear a tucked in undershirt and experience no ill-effects from a stippled gun.

Like most here have posted, it really depends where you stipple and how aggressive the texture is.

For my EDC G19, I only stippled the front and back straps. No issues with comfort whatsoever. I stippled my brothers 19 as well, but full grip. I wasn't as aggressive with his as mine.

I always wear an undershirt, usually a moisture wicking fabric type shirt like Under Armor, with my fully stippled M&P9c. Stippling is a non-issue with an undershirt. Without an undershirt the stippling will wear on you quickly.

I did not know that. Otherwise I wouldn't have carried any of my stippled or surface treated guns, including a full Boresight Glock, stippled Beretta and P30 with a grip tape on a backstrap in AIWB against bare skin for 5 years now.

OP: it is really person dependent, both from standpoint of tolerance and motivation. The most absolute statement one can make is that a chance of tolerating Glocks RTF treatment or floor tape against bare skin is next to zero. Short of that, I've seen everything on both ends of a spectrum.

No issue with my ColdBore stippled G17 carried AIWB.

I stippled the grips on my 226, and it destroys clothes, but worse it can catch on whatever is the cover garment, and after time can lift the cover garment. I like shooting the gun, but I will not be stippling future carry guns, at least not as aggressively as I did the 226.

I carry a stippled G19 daily with no issues. Depends a lot on how aggressive the texture is and how/where you carry. My stippling is deep and fairly aggressive, but not sharp. The worst is actually the lighter sandpaper type stippling.

This, but holster choice matters, too. I carry a very lightly stippled G17 without a light in a Dale Fricke Archangel. I carry the same gun with an X300 in a Raven Phantom. I carry with both rigs against bare skin pretty often in the summer and it's not too bad.

I carry mine all the time. Anyone asserting that all stippling completely destroys clothing and skin is wrong.

Of course you can carry it without an issue, it just depends on how the frame has been textured. A frame can be stippled/modified with IWB/concealed carry concerns addressed no problem.

If your stippled frame looks like it has herpes then it's probably going to be uncomfortable for carry. If your frame has been stippled properly then there should be no issue.

All of my carry guns are stippled and I carry them AIWB most of the time no problem.

I usually wear a tucked in undershirt though.

When I go without an undershirt it can be a bit uncomfortable but I live in Washington where the temperature only prevents me from wearing an undershirt a few times a year so its really a non issue.

I have no issues. AIWB everyday with one of these two. The glock most recently. I do wear a undershirt.

seems like the trend for those who carry fully stippled guns is an undershirt. by the way.....Nice job on the Glock 4DAIVI PAI2K5

I typically carry with an additional under shirt anyway but regarding stippling: it depends on how aggressive the stippling is. The factory texture on a P30 doesn't bother me against skin but a Bowie Tactical stippled Glock tears me up without an undershirt

Under Armor for the win or wife beaters for a base layer seems to be the way to go for thr most comfort.

I mainly do it because I'm a sweater.

Thanks my business partner did it for me. He is better at the edging then I'am.

G22 w/ Taran Tactical stippling
Armordillo Xfer holster

Carried AIWB against bare skin with zero issues to my skin nor clothing. Hell my Triji sights cause more issues with my clothing than the stippling.

No issue with my ColdBore stippled G17 carried AIWB.

I have a ColdBore 19/x300U (picked it up on a trade here) that I carry AIWB all the time. No issues for me too.

ETA: after reading some of the posts - no undershirt, no boxers/drawers:cool:

Not stippled, but I carry a Glock 19 rtf2 aiwb with no issues. I guess it all depends on your level of comfort.

I wore my stippled Shield on a 12 mile hike. I had to remove it by mile 9 or so. My side was really tender.

I have the "carry" texture from Logan (Enhanced Precision Products) on all my carry guns and I don't find that it bothers me for all day carry, nor do I find that it snags on my clothes. Holster is a CompTac Minatour MTAC. The carry texture is the standard texture on the front and rear straps but he knocks the sides down a little to the sharp peaks you normally get are softened but there is sufficient grip.
