View Full Version : Allowed to stipple over maker's mark?

I like to stipple the front-left of a pistol's dust cover, to provide grip for my non-firing hand. On my new Kahr PM9, this spot corresponds with the manufacturer name/location stamp: "KAHR ARMS / WORCESTER, MA."

Would this lead to future trouble, legal or otherwise? How about covering it with skateboard tape? The make and model are also engraved on the slide and the serial number is on a little metal plate, Glock-style.

Steer clear of the serial number and you shouldn't have any issues.

There's no legal precedent for gun modifications of this sort (and many others) having any kind of deleterious effects on defendants in otherwise clean shoots.

No different than removing the manufacturer's markings on a car. As long as you don't remove the VIN number, you're fine. As long as you don't remove the gun's serial number, you're fine.
