Ok guys, which AK are you going to use as your #1?

I'm leaning towards my SLR-105, but I kind of hope the 108 is available in time.

I must say that I am being unusually fickle about this. I guess it's because this is such a rare opportunity and I want to get the most out of it.

In one respect I feel that a traditional old-school, AKM pattern 7.62x39mm would be the most logical way to go. On the other hand, I'd like to run the Russian latest and greatest - my AK-105 clone.

Now, damn it - Arsenal is releasing this SLR-106 which looks like a really good package. I would be tempted to accessorize this model with an AimPoint and some other goodies.

Decisions, decisions...

I honestly don't know right now either.

It'll be fixed stock, or at least not an underfolder or a German style side folder.

Might be one of these bad boys.........

At the gun show last week I tried to talk myself into a very nice Arsenal SA M7 (I think) but at $700 it was too rich for my blood. It had a (surprisingly) nice trigger, but I have philosophical objections to paying more than 400 bucks for an AK. I may have to throw up the flag and see if I can borrow one for the class. If I can talk Chris into buying 2, maybe he'll let me borrow one :)

But hey we've got 6 months until the class. Plenty of time to change my mind 2 or 3 times.

There is a whole world of difference between an Arsenal Inc. SA-M7 at $700.00 and a Century WASR-10 at $400.00.....no real comparison....

+1 Got THAT right.

My SAM-7s has the SWEETEST trigger of ANY of my AK's...and is VERY accurate. :D

All Arsenal Inc triggers are sweet!

I'll be using my SLR-105A1 unless I get a 106 before then :D

I've tried to ignore the 106 but look at that thing, look at it!

It's perfect but my only concern is the magazines; will they be readily available?

Mags of a couple different flavors are readily available for about $25.00 per. Remember to sign up for the MIGETA forum and you'll get an additional 7% off when you check out.

I just used my SA-M7 Classic and my SLR-105A1 in a practical rifle competition. Man, the Force was not with me using the M7 Classic.....:o , but when I ran it again with the 105A1, it was a world of difference.

So right now, I'd say it's either my SLR-105A1 (AK-74) or the SLR-106R (AK-101) that I'll be getting very shortly.

Bulldog, you probably already know, but the 7n6 ammo in those tins, while being absolutely top notch military ammo, is corrosively primed so clean accordingly. I highly recommend 10% Ballistol and 90% water mix.

Looks like a great score!
