View Full Version : Second chance Vest 5.56
Went out to a friends house today where his yard backs up to a wooded area. We hung an old 2d Chance vest on a target rack. Went back a little over 100 yards and went at it. I know the vest was never designed for this andf in every training class I had before I retired, they always showed a used vest that was shot at by hand guns; never by rifles (except maybe .308 or 30-06)?????. 2d chance never had a chance.

I happened to be at the range I frequent when they were testing various pistols against a similar vest. The only pistol round that penetrated it was the FN 5-7. Sadly, they didn't try and long guns against it, but we all know what the results would be.

By the title I thought second chance finally came out with a vest to stop 556.
In other news, water is wet.
Kevlar isn't stopping most rifle rounds unless your are lobbing them like rocks.
Too much energy concentrated in too small of an area.

Right?
The vest was OLD. Did it for fun, but it was Educational. The so-called trama plate was like paper. I was using a PSA carbine with a Eotech 512 and the woods stopped most of the sunlight. Kinda dark back there.

Right? I didn't expect this to be news.
