Up for sale is what I would consider the Ultimate M&P for CCW. It started life as a full size 9mm that was manufactured on 01/20/2013. Then it went on a journey...
- The grip was professionally stippled, chopped, and contoured by a licensed gunsmith who did an excellent job (see photos). It now accepts the M&P Compact Magazines (12 round capacity or 10 if you live in occupied territory). The reason for doing this and not just buying a compact was two-fold - 1) a Compact has a shorter barrel and sight radius making it inherently less accurate, and 2) the Compact has a VERY limited selection of IMO - poor performing weapon mounted lights. The work that was performed gives you the grip and concealability of a compact grip with the higher inherent accuracy and the ability to run full size weapon lights of the full size M&P.
- The slide was then sent to L&M Precision for milling for the RMR - This is far superior to a CORE for many reasons but most importantly because the CORE has had issues retaining a zero with RMRs due to the fact that the relief in the slide is not cut specifically to fit the RMR only. L&M performed approximately $360 worth of work including milling for the RMR, building a slide cover (allows you to remove the RMR and run the pistol with iron sights only), and cerakoting the slide, the slide cover, and underneath the plate (milled surface where the RMR sits - done to prevent the possibility of rust) in Magpul FDE. He also installed black suppressor sights that allow you to cowitness the sights with the RMR. L&M is regarded as being at the top of machine shops to perform this work and they've earned it - the work is EXCELLENT.
- The addition of the RMR RM-07 (7 MOA adjustable LED dot w/ NV settings - the only way to accurately shoot a pistol with a PVS-14). This dot is plenty big for even old eyes to see yet still allows precise shooting, even at 50 yards.
- Apex AEK Aluminum Trigger - This is the full M&P AEK kit (sear, springs, etc). The trigger has been tuned by the same gunsmith who did the grip work originally. It is a phenomenal trigger and is one of the nicest I've ever felt on an M&P.
- And last, but certainly not least - it has a hand-fitted, threaded Storm Lake Match Barrel installed by G&R Tactical. This is THE MOST accurate barrel available for the M&P series. It also has about a year long waiting list if you want one...so you literally can't go buy one right now no matter how much $ you've got...except for people who've already done their time and waited for one (like this). These barrels are capable of shooting sub 2" groups at 50 yards and some have grouped around 1" in a ransom rest.
I hate to part with this pistol but I've got too many and something has to go. I'm located in the DFW area and would be willing to meet a buyer in that vicinity, preferably on the north end. I'm willing to sell it one of four ways:
1) The whole package - $1,475 shipped to your FFL.
This would take over a year to replicate and would cost you at least $1,820, if not a little more. This comes with the original S&W case, a stippled flush fitting 12 rd mag, the 12 rd mag with finger extension (pictured), and the factory, non-threaded barrel. ***If someone wants the package they will have first right of refusal over parties who want only the slide or the frame***
2) The slide as it sits with the RMR for $1,100 shipped USPS Priority Insured.
3) If you don't want the RMR, I'll sell the slide with the slide cover for $575. You can't buy an M&P slide and have the same machine work done for $575 - it's like getting the $300 SL hand-fitted match barrel for free and skipping the year wait. The stock, non-threaded, factory barrel will also come with the slide if purchased separately.
4) The "lower" frame - $400 shipped to your FFL. This would also be impossible to duplicate for this price as the frame and the grip work would run more than that...it's like getting $160 worth of Apex Trigger parts and the tuning for free. This comes with the original S&W case, a stippled flush fitting 12 rd mag, and the 12 rd mag with finger extension (pictured), an FDE medium backstrap that's stippled to match, a black large backstrap that's also stippled to match and a small backstrap that has not been stippled.
